Maxus 2006 Schedule (updated Apr 17)
I'm going to be adding/modifying this schedule as details are ironed out, but here's the quick and dirty so people can actually see what's going on..
I have also created stickies for all of the events that need a signup. Please see those threads for more information about each perticular event.
Friday, June 2
Everyone arrive/ Meet & Greet/ Kill time at Speedzone approx 8pm-12am. (4 hours) Cost is $25 per person for 4 hrs of unlimited rides. get there earlier or later- your choice. thread here.
Sat, June 3
Track Event at Motorsports Ranch- Cresson
$95 per car/driver.
The track event starts at 1pm, but we will be doing a Caravan down there from the hotel starting at 10am. Maps will be provided for those who need to come later.
We will be stopping for lunch at Riscky's BBQ in Benbrook, which is about 15 miles from the track.
We will also be doing the dyno event at Texas Autsports shop on the MSR property during the track event. The price is $50 for three pulls with A/F. Those of us that want to do both will have plenty of time to get your runs in between track sessions.
We're also planning this as a swap meet at the track for anyone that wants to come.. So bring your old mods, stock stuff, whatever you need out of your garage and sell it to the other guys!
Sat evening will be a shine/clean/polish gathering at A Master'd Touch Paint and Body. (just down the street from Speed Zone)
Anytime we get back from the track... he will probably stay open for us until midnight or 1:00 AM (thanks for setting that up, LatinMax!)
Sun, June 4
Maxus 2006 Car Show, hosted by Trophy Nissan
Location: Breckinridge Park in Richardson, TX.
Judged Car Show
Show & Shine
Raffle Prizes
Vendor/Sponsor Booths
Food! (I'm trying to get the Hot Dog Girl back again this year!)
I need to hand out a BIG THANK YOU to LatinMax, Loren Rapoport, and Sarah for helping me get all this stuff together. Loren has done an incredible amount with the MSR and car show location situations, and Sarah has worked her *** off finding us a nice place to sleep. LatinMax is has gotten many of the other events together for Fri and Sat evenings. We all owe them a lot of gratitude for the work they've put in.

Spoke to my body shop and he said that we can use his shop to clean and detail our cars for the car show. He said we can come anythime after noon until late at night, on Saturday. He will provide water, buckets and a few shop vacs. We will have to provide our own products. He said that he will even do some paint touch up for free.
He is located near Speed Zone at 2343 Merrell Road Suite 302, Dallas, TX 75229

That's great news, Latin. Sounds like your body shop guy is pretty cool. I'll have to get a travel 'detail kit' together.

I'd have to have gotten her first! Last year I was so busy I didn't even get a chance to see what was going on, let alone the hot dog girl.

Oh. heck. you remember her - an instant icon of maxus '05 - even better than those T-shirts some nameless person sold there... ( I have 4 !)
Do we have '06 T-shirts this year ??
I'm gonna do the track thing this year ... Trophy Nissan is an out-of-sight sponsor - amazing you got them back. I really wanted that "NO FEAR" Titan package they had at the '05 show..... Only in Texas.

SWEEET, MSR! They're almost done with that extension. How much track time do we get? $95 is a great price. Can I run my non-maxima? =)

The new section at MSR is complete. A couple of weeks ago the Porsche club was the first to drive the full 3.1 mile course for their DE. I took the opportunity to break in the new Carrera properly there. We have another PCA DE on April 8th and 9th that I will get a 2nd chance to test it out. The new section is a lot more challenging than the old. I can almost guarentee they will only allow you to run the old 1.7 mile road course. They are only allowing more experienced drivers to use it. The Apex school is currently restricted to the old course for this reason, but is working to schedule an "advanced" school that will be on the new section. This is for safety reasons. There are a lot more elevation changes on the new section. There are 2 hills that are blind as you are going over them and a couple of areas where there is a major lack of run-off room. We only had 2 people go off at the DE, but the orange clay on the side of the track forced them to be towed out. Don't worry, not running the new section won't take the fun out of it.
We should look at setting up a BBQ for lunch at the track for the drivers and observers to participate. It is also nice to give something back to the track workers.
Matt:
I will give you a call later to get more details on the track day. I would like to find out by the price if it is a shared member type event. This is what I set up for the G35 club a while back. If so, I already have a breakdown of the schedule format we can distribute. We also need to discuss teching. I already have tech forms made up from the G35 event we can re-use.

question on the track event... only 95 if you want to use the track, or 95 just to go there? I most likely will not use the track, but would like to see others use it.. I think the Z's are going to be out there that weekend too... Later..

Watching is probably free or like $10. $95 is for driving on the Road Course.
Matt, Is there a form like there was last year or do you just need the money?

Watching should be free. I'm definitely down for the course. I'd like to know how much track time we're getting.

Watching will be free. there will be plenty of room to park for anyone who wants to come.. when they do the car club events, they're used to hundreds showing up and bbqing on site and etc.. so there's no problem for people showing up and watching.
as for track time, you'll get approx 1-1.5 hours. See the track event thread for more details on that.
SPiG, right now I just need the money to start coming in.. I will get a tech form printed up or have the track send me one shortly. But right now I just need the money so I can reserve the track for the day. I'll give everyone a receipt and such so they know their payment is received and if there are not enough people to have the event, I will provide refunds to all who paid.

It is free to come in watch and ride. The first 2 sessions will be lead and follow, i.e. no passing. For these sessions, drivers don't have to wear helmets and can carry passengers. This gives a lot of people the ability to hitch a ride and see the track first hand, ever though they aren't driving.
MSR now has a dyno on the premises. I am currently negotiating a deal so we can just do the dyno day at the track. So we can now combine both the track day and the dyno day.
We will need to be at the track at 1:00 pm. We will be caravaning from Richardson at 10:00 am and stopping for food along the way. This should give everyone enough sleep after spending a few hours at Speedzone the night before. I am currently looking for a restaurant in Benbrook to stop at for lunch.
Breckinridge Park is one of the largest parks in the DFW area. I have reserved both of the Pavillions for us (each holds about 100 people). There is plenty of parking lot space for everyone. There are paved trails, woods with lots of shady trees, a stream and a lake. There is a nice Gazebo (holds about 75 people) off the lake. There are bathroom facilities near both pavillions and plenty of jungle gym equipment for the kids. This should work out well for everyone. We will be having the car show at the park. There are 2 spray-n-wash self serve car washes and a full serve close by in Richardson.

Already sent my check (FYI, gets your in if your going to run). I just won't be running the Maxima. The Maxima will be out on Friday and Sunday, but I have other intentions on Saturday. I'll be running the Carrera at the track on Saturday. The Maxima is set more for the street and the Carrera is set up more for the track (stiff suspension, race wheels and sport cup track tires). I've already run 12 sessions in the Carrera on the new expanded 3.1 mile road course. You really learn you have a pair when your doing tripple digits going into ricochet. It is a blast and the new section is definitely more challenging than the old one. There are 2 hills that you go over and what's on the other side is a surprise the first time you drive it. I have a couple more opportunites that I will be out driving the track before Maxus. I am looking forward to seeing how Matt runs since he tracks his Max a lot.

Man I haven't been to MSR in about 2 years...
And Loren, we are definitely running the short track, correct?
I haven't been on the 3.1 yet...
I'm just hoping the Max is running by then! I don't get my engine back from the machine shop until the last week in April!! that gives me essentially a week to get it assembled, installed, and running so that I can have it broken in for the event!!
Oh.. and for those of you that want to see what the track looks like from behind the wheel, here's a 25mb video of me out there destroying a set of tires: http://blehmco.com/movies/me_at_msr_3.WMV

I've only done a handful of ride-alongs on that track, and that was years ago. I'm definitely looking forward to driving for once.

Dyno day is officially moved to MOTORSPORT RANCH. I talked to Texas Autosports, a performance speedshop on the MSR premises. I secured the dyno for Saturday, June 3rd. We have it from 11:00-on. The price is the same as the mobile dynojet deal: $50 for 3 runs with air/fuel readout.
I also located a restaurant on the drive to the track for lunch on Saturday:
Riscky's BBQ on Hwy 377 in Benbrook (about 15 miles north of the track). Riscky's is an old staple in Fort Worth, family owned for over 70 years.

The chopped brisket at Riscky's is AWESOME! I used to eat at the one on Hwy 26 in North Richland Hills all the time when I lived in DFW. Anyway, things sound like they are pretty much good to go and I am really looking forward to it again this year. The car is definitely in need of some serious help so I need to get to work soon. Thanks again Matt and Loren for getting everything set up.

Hey Matt. If you want to update the schedule:
Friday Night Speed Zone 8:00 pm-midnight for $25
Saturday Night. Shine, clean & polish at A Master'd Touch Paint and Body. (just down the street from Speed Zone)
Anytime we get back from the track... he will probably stay open for us until midnight or 1:00 AM

On group deals Speedzone is normally flexibles on time, they just set the unlimited play/drive card to expire 4 hours after it is purchased. So you can get there earlier or later like last year.
