So Matt when is the latest I can send payment via Paypal?

Right now im in doubt if I will get my car back together for Maxus. If I don't get everything sorted out by the end of this month im not gonna rush the re-assembly and risk driving cross country...

Just to give you an idea how deep I am in sh!t, the engine bay is down to a bare frame. This coming week it's going to get chassis foamed and POR-15 treated, if the weather warms up enough.

I need the payment essentially by the end of this month. Right now, we don't have enough people paid to have the event.. If I can get a min of 10 people paid, then I'll be able to secure the event and extend the deadline a bit.. but right now I've got to have 10 people paid before I can do anything else.

And don't even start to gripe about your car. All I've done with my car since last year is tow it home and remove the oil pan to see what broke. new engine is at the machine shop now and was promised to me by may 1. that means I have a month (while I'm planning/attending three huge car shows and a CART race!) to finish assembling the engine, install, tune, and break-in. Gonna be a busy month!

Hey, someone's got to serve as the example!! The Post office is just a big damn hassle here and when I leave for work at 7:30am and get home at 7pm, there's no time to go get it during the week!

Anyway, we've got a couple more that have paid in the last few days, but we still need all the people you can get to make it happen!

Tech sheets and driver info signup pages are now on the initial post. Please take a look at those and follow instructions.

for those of you that have already sent me money for the track event, please simply download and fill out the registration form, then re-save it (MS Word format) and email it to me completed so I can have it on file.

For safety, the folllowing should be done before entering the track:

1. Brake fluid should be flushed within 6 months of the track event
2. Wheel torque should be checked (I'll have a torque available at the track)
3. Tire pressure chould be checked (I'll have my Accugauge at the track)
4. Fluid levels should be checked (cooling, oil, brake, power steering and clutch master cylinder), it is also a good thing to bring an extra quart of oil
5. Brake pads should have 40% or higher pad surface when starting the event. It is a good thing to bring extra pads just in case.
6. Bring long cloths of non-synthetic fibre - Try to wear jeans or bring a pair of sweat pants to wear over shorts, wear a long sleave shirt or a sweat shirt or wind breaker over T-shirts
7. Wear closed toe shoes - Sorry ladies, no opened toe spikes...tennis/running shoes are fine
8. Remove your driver's side floor mat, we won't want it to interfere with the pedals
9. Fill up with gas before running on the track. I normally go through 3/4 of a tank of gas in 4 sessions (averaging 8.8 mpg). There are a couple of gas stations in Cresson where you can fill up.

This is normal for all the clubs who run the track. With Porsche and BMW Clubs, you have a sticker you put on your windshield that you have to sign each morning. If it isn't there and signed, insurance doesn't cover us. These are for safety. Cars can get over 100 mph on the track on the front straight coming out of Big Bend and on the back side coming out of Ricochet.

Last GET YOUR CHECKS IN. We have enough to do the event and I like not having as much traffic on the track, but it a lot more fun with an appropriate number of cars on the track. For those who have never done a track day before, it is a tremndous amount of fun having a great opportunity to explore the limits of your ride in the safest environment. I'll see you there...

Loren

I recently bought an SA2000 Bieffe helmet due to helmet requirements with other clubs. I will also be bringing my old M95 helmet with me for anyone to use who does not have a helmet. I also have no additional use for it, so whoever wants it can keep it at the end of the day.

Still at 7.

I got a call from MSR yesterday asking what we're going to do. I'm supposed to have 20 people signed up and I only have 7. I've GOT to get some more people invovled in this. For all the people that wanted the track day and said they'd be there, I have about 30% of them actually sending me money.

It looks like they brought the minimum down a little since the last time I tried to do one of these. When I tried to organize one for the G35 club, I couldn't get more than 12 get checks in from the G35 community. I had over 60 people sign up, just few actually paid. There is a huge difference between talking about it and actually doing it. I have been hoping the Maxima community were more Enthusiasts than the G35 community. The G35 community is a pretty worthless a bunch of people who like to get together and look at there cars once a quarter. I opened the G35 event up to the Z community and got 7 to register pretty quickly. I didn't have enough for the event, so I cancelled it. Coincidentally, I got 4 checks and 10 requests from people locally to meet me to give me payments within a couple of days after I cancelled the event. Out of these late entires, only 1 was from the G35 community and the rest were Z's.

I have an alternative that will get us out of the pickle. I can offer it to the Porsche community if the Maxima community is incapable of stepping up to the plate. I won't waste my time again with the G35 community. The Porsche community is the opposite of the G35 community. The Porsche community does not have car shows. They get together and do driving events: DE's, Time Trials, Auto-X's and rallys. Our last DE had 220 entrants and sold out with a waiting list. I could get the number pretty easily this way, but I don't think the Maxima community is going to like seeing a track filled with a bunch of very experienced Porsche drivers driving circles around a few inexperienced Maxima drivers. Nevertheless, I will put this out there as an option. The only other options I can come up with is to approach the Miata or Supra clubs. We never had a problem filling 50 slots plus a waiting list for a "Miatas at the Ranch" event. The Supra cummunity also never had a problem getting entrants for track events at any of the Texas 2Kx events.

Yeah come on. It is not that hard on your car, if you don't drive it to its limits. You will have a blast and learn how to drive you car a lot better.

We need more people.

I would love to go, and would be down to pay in a heart beat to be able to take my car onto some proper twisties, but I just don't have the time and money to drive cross country for a Maxima event. If only there were road courses around the NY area

You people who are not taking advantage of this are losing out big time IMO.

Good point, SPiG. Last year was the first time I had ever driven a road course. I agree it was not that hard on the car. You can drive as 'hard' as you want. For me it was more of a driving lesson....learning how my Max handles in a safe, legal environment. And +1 for it being a blast.....it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

Come on guys. It's the best $95 you'll ever spend (last year it was $180 and worth every penny)

This is extremely accurate. The only thing that you can really wear are brakes if you are running aggressive race pads. I have less wear on my tires in 4 25-minutes sessions at the race track than just 4 1-minute runs in a parking lot at an Auto-X.

Okay guys, we've had a few more pay up, and I've been given a deadline extension on getting the money in, but I'm still about 10 people short in making this event happen.

Half this year's activities are centered around the track day and if those of you that said you want to go don't pay like you said you would, half of Maxus is going down the tubes!

Is it still $95? When do things start and when do they finish? I'm actually going to be IN Dallas and driving ON MSR on Thursday... =) But wouldn't mind possibly doing it again, but I've got to drive home to Virginia Beach by the 5th... so doing a track event on the 3rd would be cutting it quite close... =(

Let me know.

Yes, cost is still $95.
the basic schedule is listed somewhere in the thread.. either Loren or I posted it before. It's going to be a 2-6pm type of thing out there.. we're starting pretty early on our caravan down there and grabbing lunch on the way, but the actual track event time will be from approx 2-6pm.

You going to be down the whole week for ZCon? I'm headed up on Monday, assuming I get my car running in time. I'm signed up for all the track events as well, so look for me in either the Max or my S14!

K... well with that time table, I don't think I'll be able to make the Maxima event... I have to get my father home for a surgery appointment on the 5th, and I've got to meet a guy to sell my father's '88 Maxima the same day... so I kinda have to be back in town... and its a two day trip home to VA from Dallas... =( Sorry guys.

But yeah, I'll be arriving in Dallas around dinner on Monday... then I'll be in town all week for the convention... and I'll be doing all the track events (MSR, Ovaling, AutoX) and then heading home Saturday morning... =)
