Max sighting in Iraq

Considering I have only been here since January and it is only the 4th car Ive seen on base (everything else is military vehicles, hummers, trucks, and SUV's) pretty amazing I saw a light blue 5th Gen S Touring edition Max. Too bad I had to go so I couldnt wait for the driver to check it out closer.

I was in Kirkuk Iraq from Sept-Jan, and I saw a Red 3rd Gen... MAXIMA... not cefiro... but Maxima. He even had the tinted corners on there. The military has some contractors come in from different regions... and some rent vehicles off the local economy, and some have their vehicles brought in. This guy owned the Max... I got to talk to him a little bit. He said he worked for the translators.

It was a Max, had the Maxima label on the left side and the S Touring label on the right.

Last word... kirkuk wasn't too bad. Not to worry you with the details... cause I can't say the details anyway. Military rules. It's a pretty quiet area, that much I can say... quieter than the rest of Iraq. To be honest, I'd rather be there right now, that being stuck in Afghan... sad ain't it? Or I'm just crazy like that...

Of course, nothing beats being home.

Btw... thanks for all the support. I remember my dad telling me about when he got home from Vietnam. Said he had some guy spit at his boots and call him a baby killer... and all he did was fix computers, never was in the fighting...

My favorite part was the pay increases started happening. There were some people saying that the military was paid enough... LOL.

I barely cleared $14k this year, and I'm a Heavy Equipment Mechanic... look up the average and see how much I'm getting under paid...even with free Medical and No rent, electric, or water bill. It still doesn't come out even. I talked to one guy and he made an avg of $50k a year, doing the same job.

Someone tried saying that it was my choice to join... yeah I know that, but how's it your choice to say I get paid dirt cheap for the job I do... on top of that get sent overseas into the fighting (btw I only get an extra $225 a month for that). I know everyone's taxes pay for us... but we pay them as well... LOL, we always joke that we pay for our own paychecks.

And the last pay increase before this series... late 1970s. I say it's about time.

I say let some of those Libs come over here and see what we do... and get paid as much as we do. It's so sad, we look forward to deploying because it gives that little extra money that makes living a little more comfortable.

But this is just an Airman's point of view. The poor Soldiers have it worse than us... of course they get more money than we do for coming over.

The military is a Job, and like a Job it has to change with the times. I love being in the military despite the pay. I wanted to see the world, and what better way. Ask anyone who enjoys being in (cause some don't) and they'll tell you it has a sense of family. Almost everyday there's something new. I have been to 3 different countries in the past 6 months.

pruizgarcia- tell you son to be careful. It's dangerous over there period. And the insurgents are whole nother crazy subject. They blame the americans for their problems... and they're the ones causing them. We get blamed for the oil lines catching fire... and they're the ones who set them... it's a crazy country over there.
