That's certainly an understatement, considering the fact that the Japanese spent almost forty years teaching their children that the Koreans are an inferior race while Japanese soldiers raped and killed Korean girls and used all the men either as slave labor or as conscripted soldiers to fuel their hopeless war effort... not to mention the fact that they looted and pillaged their way across China and Korea, stealing anything of any value that they could get their hands on. Somewhere between all the beheading and the cannibalism, they also found time to practically eradicate all elements of Korean and Chinese culture in the areas that they occupied by banning all traditional arts and crafts, including many traditional Chinese and Korean martial arts. The Japanese even attempted to rewrite history by claiming that any martial arts and blade weapon skills that now exist in Korea and China are simply borrowed from "ancient" Japanese martial arts. They claim this despite clear archeological evidence that the Koreans and Chinese were using swords thousands of years before the Japanese ever did. There are even letters clearly written by Japanese noblemen and warlords that praise the swords that they received through trade with Korea, and some go so far as to invite swordsmiths from Korea to Japan to share their techniques with Japanese crafters. If you ignore the mythology created by the Japanese surrounding their highly revered "samurai swords," the historical evidence indicates that the prototype for these sacred symbols of Japanese culture were based on early Korean designs. The Japanese will deny this fiercely, because they will not admit that such an important symbol of national pride could possibly be related in any way to the "inferior Koreans."

Of course... I'm a Korean, and I drive a Japanese car. I am a traitor and a failure!

I would drive a Korean car, but up until recently, there has been a big difference in quality between Korean cars in the Korean domestic market and Korean cars sold in the USA. Even though they look the same, I remember being much more impressed with the overall build quality of the Hyundais in Korea than I was with the build quality of the "same models" here in the USA.

Things have changed in the past couple of years, though. After getting their foot firmly in the door with a low-cost product, the Korean car companies are introducing higher quality products here, and they are opening more plants in the USA (one right near me in Georgia) to fill the demand for their new vehicles here. Five years ago, nobody would've considered a Sonata to be serious competition to the Camry. Now, most car mags are calling the Sonata a serious contender in the Camry/Accord/Altima fight because of its increased power, improved build quality, and updated styling.
