Was flipping through the NZ Autocar Magazine today at the book shop and saw that they're modding an 04 Maxima as a project! In this issue they focused on the exterior by adding a body kit all round and a nice looking spoiler to the back. The mods they added gave it a more aggressive look to it, which IMO suits it very nicely. Made the back look alot nicer too with the boot spoiler they added, it's sorta like a lip but extends out more
I'm going to be following the project to see what the end result looks like. I'll go back later and purchase the mag so I can maybe scan it and post a link for those in other countries that don't get the mag who are interested in seeing it (or those in NZ that are too cheap to buy the mag :P lol).
Yes, Nissan NZ is building sport pack maximas. the cars look awesome you can choose a range of options including- several wheel options, s-pac trim and an exhaust which boosts power.
It really does look like Nissan NZ is changing the role of the Maxima from the usual business car role to a performance role I'm all for this, previous Maxima's have been seriously under-estimated, when people see what they can do they're usually fairly surprised.
Welcome to the forums btw, nice to see another from this part of the world What Maxima do you drive?
hmm, might have to go and have a look at nz autocar.... sounds good!
Am in the middle of redoing the suspension in my car at the mo, just got the fronts in today, kyb's and king springs.. (sorry to go OT, but i'm just so excited!)

Hey guys..."sporting up" Maximas by Nissan is nothing new....Gen 5 models there was a sport version...they had an 'S' in the model eg SSI,SST or STI. they had lower body kits on them, front and rear spoilers, big chrome exhaust (maybe just an extension to standard exhaust). Gen 4 was the QMX. Gen 3 was the Silhouette with front/rear spoiler, sporty alloys (same as later Gen 3 SL wheels). I have seen an SE Limited around in Ashburton that has the Silhouette options....maybe these bits were optioned when the car was new???, but has a 'Limited' badge in the same style as the decals on back of black boot panel. Anything for Nissan to make a buck i suppose...lol
Thats true, but those were a select few. Ads for the Maxima still showed oldish guys in business suits driving it. For the new Maxima though, they have what looks to be a youngish guy, playing a prank and driving with a heavy foot . So, it just seems that Nissan is trying to make the whole Maxima line appeal to the younger and more spirited.
Anyway, this project I'm talking about appears to be independent of Nissan, just happens the Maxima was the car they picked this time around. I wouldn't be surprised if Nissan does have something to do with it behind the scenes though

Hey Matt_NZ nice Rims - can't wait to see pics.
I am trying to source an A32 bodykit from NZ. Do you have any contacts?
Hey Matt, Ceasar is going to be bringing his maxima with him. Check out his web page, or if it doesnt work, I could forward a vid of his nice ride. Also, hes going to be moving near me in Raumati South near Paraparaumu.
Ah, great! He should be able to register it and drive it on the road here too, as he's owned it in the originating country for over a year, which is the legal requirement for RHD cars Certainly will be a rare find lol.
I think that we've met all the criteria to be able to register it, but it has to be inspected by a special certifier because it's got a bodykit and doesn't have the original springs/struts, or seats etc.... but I'm going to pull out the racing seats and install OEM ones
Well, where's the best place to have a meet? i mean city wise. If we go on numbers, theres 3 in chch, 1 wellington, 1 palmerston north, 2 auckland.
Correct me if i'm wrong guys!
Yes you can, but not on windscreens. Front side windows can be tinted, but if the tint only lets less then 35% of light in, then its considered illegal. From what I gather from this article, http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/rules/glazin...-circular.html , rear windows can have any level of tint, as long as you have side mirrors Since you're importing though, the car will need to be inspected
