Italy and a "94 Maxima

I have a '94 Maxima SE that has only 87,000 miles on it and has been well maintained with oil changes every three thousand miles. The car should have a lot of life left in it. I am moving to Italy soon and I am considering taking my Maxima. I have found a shipper who will deliver the car for less than $1100; much less than the cost of buying a another vehichle as roadworthy and durable. Here is my problem. This model was never marketed in Italy and I wonder what type of spare parts nightmare I could be setting myself up for. Has anyone taken a Maxima to a country where there were Nissan dealers but where the car had never been sold? What kind of service and parts availability can I expect? I assume the Nissan dealers will be willing to order parts but how long will it take? Can their mechanics figure out how to work on the vehicle?
Thanks for any help you might offer!

Well I live in Germany and there's actually a nissan dealer near where I live that advertises maintence on U.S. spec nissan's for over 50 years. I've only talked with the dealership but they seem legit. I go in for my 15,000 mile service on my 03' maxima soon so, I'll let you know how that goes.

Thanks for your response. It had not occurred to me that the European specs would be different. I thought our emissions standards were the toughest. I guess you have not had to order any parts.

Nope not yet. I'm pretty sure the dealer doesn't have any parts in stock either so they're going to have to order them from the states. I'm also concerned with how much they know about fixing my newer max. But I guess thats the price I'll have to pay for bringing my maxima over here.

As for a 94 maxima. I've actually seen one or two of the 3rd gen maxima's around. Most of them have the tinted clear corner lights which I think is the european spec. which I assume have the same engines as us spec. I could be wrong though.

I live in Naples Italy. I have a '97 Max. I have taken my vehicle to various local nissan dealerships. Parts take from 8-10 weeks and in my case, the wrong parts arrived. I would not recommend bringing it, but if you do buy a local car to drive through the city during rush hour. I'm sure you know that driving here is different than anywhere else.
