What Do You Think It's Worth

Hey guys, I've been absent from posting for a while as I haven't had much going on with my I30. But lately I've been contemplating getting a Q50 as my college graduation is coming up and I've been lusting over one since I started working at a dealership and I'd likely look into getting the car at the end of this month or April. However, I don't have the room to have both so I would be torn with having to give up my I. I was curious what you guys think it would be worth if I was to end up selling it as I may rather do that than eat a trade-in value. I originally got it in 2011 with 22k miles for $11k. As my signature says, its a 2000 I30 in Aspen White Pearl. Right now the car has 67k miles. Just replaced the battery and MAF, and the muffler was not long ago. Only wear in the interior is the driver seat but it's not so serious that there's any rips or tears in the leather. Continental DWS tires have 4/32 left at the moment and the brakes were done a couple years ago. Only thing that may come out is the Pioneer navigation head unit and Cefiro dash piece as someone expressed interest in it if I ever got a new car. I've added the rear spoiler, side sills, I35 wheels and LED taillights among other things. It runs like brand new and everyone knows how reliable a VQ30 is. Just wanted to hear what you guys thought about it. Thanks!

I think that you could reasonably get, with that low of a mileage figure, around $4,500 or better. I'm not too well versed in the market for these. I just bought my 2000 I30 (also in white) in February, for $800, but it has far more miles, 249,900 as of today, and I replaced the muffler, CV boot, tie rod end, control arm bushing, radiator support, and other small things. I have less than $400 in repair costs in it. It's completely stock though. I think I could turn around and sell mine for $2,500 even with the mileage that it has. So for yours, like I said, $4,500 or a little more, considering the low mileage and the modifications you've made. But, don't quote me on it, as I'm new to I30 ownership, and as I said, no expert on market values on these.

Yes I would say you could get maybe 5k as even though your car might be mint it is still old and out of technology and not to many people love these as much as we do

I would say you can probaly get about 4 to 5k depending on where your selling it at and the market where your at for these cars. Around here they go from $2500 to $6000 with more miles.

Thanks for the input guys! I'm going to see how things go at the end of this month and I'll have my sales manager appraise it. If the trade-in value isn't too far off from what retail could be, I may just go that route. I'm in the NJ suburbs outside NYC so I'd hope value is decent. If it's too low, I may have to find a place to keep the car and think about other options. KBB trade in is only $3k so anything could happen. Of course, things could change and I may not get a new car until later on.

So I think the I30 will be going to my cousin. Relatives were over for Easter today so my aunt and uncle looked at it and liked the low miles, leather, sunroof, and my uncle couldn't get over the analog clock. Have to fix a CEL that came on (P0140 from what the service advisor told me), but I can get that taken care of this week. The dealership I work at was offering $3500 as a trade, but that was a bit low for what I want (5000-5500 probably). I also will be inking a deal for a 2015 Q50S AWD at the end of this week.

I'll e-mail you tomorrow. I have to figure out exactly how much to ask for and what timeframe they'll take the car. Once that's figured out, I can work on taking out the dash piece, clear corners, and the LED taillights since I have the originals and it seems theres some demand for them on here. Already plan on getting the rear spoiler, Stillen diffuser, LED conversion, and the Infiniti sport muffler for the Q50. New car, new itch for mods

Congratulations on the new Q50. I've spotted at least six Q50s in my little burb that is at least 40 miles from the dealer. There are three black, silver, blue, and white. Once they caught on, they seem to be really selling well.

So I signed and took delivery tonight and all I can say is that I absolutely LOVE IT! The I30 will always have a special place for me, but the Q50 is just on another level. Joe, I know I haven't gotten to e-mailing you so I'm really sorry about that, its just that work and school take up so much of my time. I'll make sure to get to it, though.

Here's a quick side-by-side pic since I was getting stuff out of the I30. It'll stay at work (the dealership) for a few days while the O2 sensor causing the SES light gets fixed and the lower oil pan seal is replaced before the car is passed on to it's next owner.
