The $9 Lip

I saw it on some forums, thought I would give it a shot. Hoping I don't get flamed. First Instructions

1) Buy this, I got it for $9 at Home Depot. It's by Frost King, 9' roll, feel free to get more

2) Lift car to make life easier

3) Adore engine prior to work :O'

Name: DSCN3670.jpg
Views: 81
Size: 193.6 KB

4) Put tape on the outline of the bumper to temporarily hold the rubber. I can see the outline from the scratchers on my bumper

Name: DSCN3674.jpg
Views: 81
Size: 136.3 KB

5) Putting it on there is self explanatory, cut the ends to your preference. I thought it would look complete if it went the whole way, but the creases will be there. No way getting past that

6) Pinned it with these. The rubber is porous so it's not hard pulling them out

Personally I think it looks great, and it saves my bumper from more damage. Happy since it's so cheap and I've been wanting a cosmetic mod.

Opinions??? This was too easy of a job

I think it would look great on your car since it would be a black on black scheme.

There was no need for a write up lolol, Took 30 minutes for me since I had to eyeball and fix it a few times. Still have to fix the sides

LOOKS GREAT! my bud with a 190e told me about this and i was like AWESOME! he's got a white black theme going so it looks good. i don't have the money for a stillen body kit and with tein s-techs coming on a body kit would make it wayy to low during winter. this is perfect!

question, where did you pin it and how many did you use and they don't pop off? safe hwy runs ok?

i wonder how it would look like all around... i've seen civics with those factory-like small black body kits, its nothing crazy but looks a lil sportier than stock.

Thanks man! Feels good to read of approval. My car had no cosmetics, and even though it's a subtle mod it makes it look soo much more different. Even my conservative bro approved

I'll take a pic, I used a fair bit all around. I pinned it RIGHT BEFORE the crease that brings the lip down, NOT on the crease otherwise youd see where the pin is from the front of the car. There's no recommended number, just however much to keep it in place. Yep, my pins are holding it up on the highway.

I think putting it all around look like cheap, front is good enough. Just imagine telling people, "I have a Home Depot body kit." Lol no...lip is satisfying enough

Looks good, and there's no way you can beat the price of that mod. Especially since I30/I35's don't have a lot of options out there for things like that

lolz well would you look at that...Looks like only the grill is sprayed? None of the bumper? I initially liked that but I'm also juggling doing the three vertical fins in the lower bumper. Yes my MS paint blows

Yep my handles are chrome too, but I'm going to do one thing at a time

if you cut slits out of the lip where it mounts to the bumper wouldn't it allow it to curve better?

The three fins were blacked out but I guess it looks darker on my iPad. I'll try it again.

Maybe hit the HD lip with Plastidip too?

Chrisman, do you use CS5 by chance? Hmm blacking out the fins looks okay to me, I can be content with the fins. Looks like the lip could use some Plasti. What's your opinion?

I actually just use the PS app on my iPad.

I think I'd black out the fins and hit the lip.

I think before I go through all of that I need a nice set of rims now to go with the lip. Already photshopped a couple, I'm diggine the 5 spoke muranos.

This was quite easy, and plastidip is cheap. I easily recommend it to anyone

I'd need a side shot.

I have a feeling it's going to look cheesy.

You know the retros would cist more than making that lip. I might sell my current setup actually for a new setup with the fxr 3.0 projectors with new housings.
