Some girl cut me off!! Totaled?

Some girl was cutting through the parking lot and then tried to make a left infront of me... I have to wait for the insurance to call me.. Is my car totaled? Also yes i kno theres gonna b a ton of question but i got my car off copart.com and bought it with blown airbags and never got them replaced, will her insurance company say something about that??

And this is her POS.. did she really get her car towed?!? Like i was able to drive mines all the way back home..

Very unfortunate to have this happen to such a pretty i35.

Depending on the mileage and frame condition, I don't think they'd total it out, although your insurance company will not replace aftermarket/non-OEM parts unless its documented in your insurance contract -IE,your headlights, and rims (if that front rim even has damage). One thing you could do though is request that they replace the lights with an identicle set from ebay to "save them money." (A new OEM set of headlights could be well over $700, while the aftermarket set is likely less than $150 shipped.) Basically, to ensure that they dont't decide to total it out (unless you want that), suggest that they seek alternative part suppliers other than the dealer.

I'd also be up front about airbags being previously deployed so they don't try to pin any type of insurance fraud on you because her insurance company will look for any excuse not to shell out money for repairs to your car.

Also - make sure they check out your suspension and maybe even have an alighment done. A slam like that is likely to do damage, and I know from experience that shops sometimes save money by focusing on aesthetics over mechanics.

In the 2nd pic of your car... it may just be the angle, but it looks like your front is bent outta shape

Looks like your wheel may have hit also. If so your alignment will be off so as previously suggested make sure it is in alignment when you get it back from whichever shop.

Does not look to be totaled. But it is a lot of work to fix. New hood, bumper, headlight, fender and maybe some bent suspension components.

Not to make you feel worse but she got pretty lucky. All she needs is a door and a little work on her side skirt/sill.

Wow, that sucks man. It would be a shame to have such a beautiful car go to waste.

It all depends on the damage.

My Acura was totalled due to suspension damage, even though the body damage wasn't as bad.

Take a look: http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/5...9956778354.jpg

Good luck with everything.

I think that's just because the quarter panel is jacked up and sticking out, and there's no bumper there for a visual reference on where the panel should be.

Im sorry to hear...the black theme looked nice .

Hood, fender, bumper, bumper support, probably a new headlight as well...considering these cars have dropped in value, its tough to say.

If you ever part out/get rid of it, I'll take those headlights as a project lol.

So the insurance called me today and just ask how it happen blah blah blah. Now I need to fax them a pic and an estimate... I thought they come to you and take a look to give you an estimate??? Well I guess i'll get an estimate after school tomorrow.. Should I go to the dealer for the estimate since it was her fault or a decent shop is fine?

My God, that is the exact car that backed up into my fender except it was a male driver.

But I'm sorry for your accident, that is one of the coolest Infinity I have ever seen. Too bad some dumb driver had to ruin it.

Yes it's totaled. Especially if it already has a branded title from the airbag incident. Mine has been totaled twice at the hands of female drivers, I've been there before. Take the money, buy the salvage and fix it yourself, you'll end up thousands ahead. If the unibody is fine and the car is drivable, there's not much reason not to.

That's far from being totaled.... At least by looking at these pictures if I were the shop you brought it to I wouldn't total it. The frame still looks good as well.

Just by looking at it, That's a ~$4500 dent. If the car is worth less than $9000 (which i'm pretty sure it is), then technically the car is totalled.

The damage itself isn't that bad and the car certainly can be repaired, but it's a simple economics issue- if the repair estimate is more than 1/2 the value of the car, then it's going to be totalled. The blown airbags and previous title have no say on whether or not they will fix this dent.

cars totalled.
most insurances will total a car in this condition esp. with the previous no airbag thing.
best case scenario. do NOT ask your insurance company to seek alternative sources. insist on oem. headlights alone are likely 2 k+ at dealer. not 700 like another user mentioned. insurance determines ur caras value by cars similar to it for sale in a ~ 100 mile radius. company called mitchell??? is what most rely on. not kbb bull****.
all speaking from recent experience. gl
you are better of having it totalled, paid out. buy back for pennies and part out

Hey guys I know I haven't been on here for a little bit but the car is STILL in the shop.. I talked to the insruance agent and he said he will call me back in a few days by the end of the week. If its totalled and prob buy it back and have it sold at my uncle salvage/junk yard.

PS: I just picked up an 04 g35 sedan and I love it! So I'm prob gonna keep the black rims and MAYBE end up sell the 17s. I'll let ya know.

I hate to be a mooch.. but if you do wind up buying back to part out or salvage.. I could use a few parts. Driver seat forward/backward motor would be the first and foremost.. I'd also take the back section of the exhaust and the evap tank/purge valve assembly, etc..

Anyhow.. good luck with everything.. hope the insurance claim goes smooth for you.

good to hear you got loot, fyi for other guys get hit by dumarses, if you can show that you have aftermarket (enhacements) to your vehicle (receipts!!), the insurance company most of the times will add the aftermarket items to the kbb value of the car.
fyi I got my 97 I30 hit on the side, insurance totaled it and got almost 5k a year ago, bought the car back for 200 what the junkyard would pay them, I fixed it with 1500 and its running strong.
