Your going to need the dash kit, the antenna adapter, and the metra 70-7551 if your going to run throught the stock bose amp and speakers. That is everything you need.

Did you try to play AVI file on 3200DVD?
I tried to convert to AVI format, but the headunit could not play it.

Wish I could help you out with that... but in my experience, once you've disconnected everything, it just takes a firm tug on the panel pieces and they'll come out. It's unlikely that anything will break.

there is no trim around the radio, its part of the radio. you have to remove the center vents above the radio (I30s have the hazard button that needs to be disconnected) and remove the wood trim around the shifter. the radio and HVAC controls are held to the dash with 4 screws. Remove the screws and the entire radio and HVAC assembly is removed as one.

Looks nice. It makes me thinking about replacing dash stereo to get gps, ipod, and other functions. Is there any dash kit that has gps and ipod connector? may be with cd changer inside

Lol I see you already got the tips here Legendman!

Yeah its pretty straightforward...just be patient and nothing should break.

Little warning though...just like with the A32s, the little phillips screws holding the headunit to the mounting bracket must have been tightened by Chuck Norris himself because they are impossible to get with a regular old screwdriver (so don't even try). Use a small impact wrench, a 90 degree screw driver setup, or just drill them out (I had to drill one out when I stripped it...doh!).

Looks good so far

I just bought the Metra kit on Amazon for 16.99 with free shipping with amazon prime. It came in yesterday and it looks good so far. The color seems to match well with the dash and the quality of the plastic is good enough. I just got my '01 I30 last week, and want to add the Pioneer Avic x930bt. I'll update as soon once I get it installed.

Just had the nav installed, here are the pics. It's not 100% perfect, but it's better than I thought it would be. Nice and clean, the color match is good, and the best part is having 2011 tech in my ride!

When you connect 7551, your sound will be VERY quiet because you connect it to RCA. I am not exactly sure why, but you can read about it in audio electronics section on this forum. What Pac Roemnis2 does is converting the sound to appropriate level so it will sound exactly right. Its pretty easy to install, nearly the same way as 7551.

Also, you might want to buy steering wheel control module, that's what I replaced too

I ordered mine on amazon and it was $10-$20 cheaper than retail price. You can also check ebay, but amazon is more reliable IMO

Need help!

Hello everyone, as I went through this thread, i came across a lot of things that got me little confused. I recently bought an American Imported i35 2002 model in the Middle East, and I really love this car so far
It is very clean, it has only done 51,000 miles! anyhow, what I need is if someone can summarize me a list of the things i need to buy/do for me to fix an after market radio, and i would really appreciate it if you send me links as well.
here what i need, and i hope you guys will help me out:
1st of all, is there anyway to the fix the radio frequencies so that it can read channels like 104.4 not only 104.5/3
2nd, am planning withing a month to install an aftermarket indash double din gps system, and i need to maintain my bose speakers and steering wheel controls. So please if you can provide me with a list of the things I need to get to make my life easier, because since i am in the middle east, i need to get most of these things, like the metra kit, online

Thanks
OZ

1st question, you can't do it on stock HU, but probably some aftermarket HUs are capable of switching radio frequencies light that

2st question,
Pac Roemnis2
99-7609G Metra Dash kit
40-NI10 Metra Antenna Adapter

For steering wheel controls it depends on what aftermarket HU you gonna use

I can help Big O out on this one. I bet he's eating lunch or something...

Pac Roemnis2 - This is so you can run your Bose speakers/ amp with a aftermarket deck. The nice thing about this unit is you can control your output gains to tune your volume level.

99-7609G Metra Dash kit - This one explains itself. This is your dash install kit.

40-NI10 Metra Antenna Adapter - Another one that speaks for itself. Factory Nissan antenna plugs are round with two male connectors. Your aftermarket deck will be one male connecter. This adapter allows two into one.

Trip and Audio Steering Wheel Control

hey guys, I have recently bought and fixed a chinese android/windows double din stereo. Altough it supports steering wheel audio control, it needs a kit, otherwise, i have to cut the oem cables and play with them, which i dont intend to do to be honest! so if anyone can tell me what kit/converter do i have to buy to get it working?

Another thing is the Trip button, it is no longer working, so what do i have to do to get it back?

Highly Appreciated!

How is the audio quality with the ROEM-NIS2? It looks like it does not use RCA at all for audio to the Bose amps which would not deliver the same audio quality as the RCA connection although it may be louder.

Would this device do the same thing and retain RCA connections?

You could always put it on the outs of the factory amp. It's in the trunk on the passenger side. Under the rear deck. Best thing to do is, gut it and get new speakers, and bypass the bloze amp!

Is that the AVIC-x930BT? I was thinking about getting the new one (x940BT) for my I30 this year. I have the Metra kit with my Clarion NZ500, but me and my dad (he used to do professional car electronics) kinda hate that kit. Just because of the crap fit, and that it isn't a perfect color match. Then I got the Sycefiro kit (I think he has one left) and I can't wait to put that in with a new 2-din head unit

Got my Metra kit and it is much darker than factory on my 01 i30 with beige interior. Darker than the one bdog posted. Do they make these in different colors and is it even work it to try and paint it?

Here's the color mismatch I was talking about earlier. It's worse with the vent area than the stock unit trim.

I have the Metra 70-7551 and the sound quality is very disappointing. I checked the wires and everything looks ok, but the sub doesnt work. I am going to try the PAC adapter and see how that goes!
