Good Deal on I35?

Hello,

I am looking into buying a 2003 Silver I35 with tan interior. It has about 98,000 miles and has the following options.

Moonroof
CD Changer
Wood Trim Steering Wheel
Heated Seats

There guy bought it from a lease one year later, and the car is in good condition. From what I see, the car doesn't look like it was in any accident or has been repainted. The guy is asking for $8,000. Let me know what you guys think and tell me how much you guys purchased your cars. Thanks.

Depending on where you are from (highway mileage versus city mileage), 8k sounds fair, but I've recently seen these drop in price. Try to offer a little less.

I bought mine with 55k miles in Sept of 08 for $13k from a dealership (one owner female driven (or so I was told) from PA), I ended up paying a bit too much I believe.

What would be some good ways to bargain the price down. I am thinking about asking for about $7,000 and working my way up. What do you guys think? I will take a ramp and check under the car to see if there are any problems down there.

The cold weather pkg had heated front and rear seats with heated steering wheel (full leather) so the car can't have a woodtrim wheel and heated seats.

Thats very similar to mine...

Paid $14k after the warranty (an old friend was the finance manager and it worked out well)...'03 I35, 45,000 miles on it, one owner, an older couple that I later found out goes to the same church as me (he traded up to an M35)...I was happy with the end price...

ill give you the same answer i gave in the 5th gen forum.

those options you mentioned are standard, except the heated seats.

I bought my I35 with 96k miles 6 months ago for $6100, so you can deff get a better deal.

AFAIK, front heated seats are standard, the rear heated seats and heated steering wheel are part of the cold weather package, which eliminates the woodgrain steering wheel like n3985 mentioned.

But yeah, try to go lower on the price.

Heres an '03 with 98k mi...... $6950 (but in TX )
http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/ctd/1365934528.html

They should be willing to work with you on the price. My cousin just got an '02 I35 with only 45k miles for $10k .... $8000 is just a tad bit high for a 100k car..

Good luck

P.s... Im looking to get an '02 silver I35 with 116k for $5500 drive out at a local dealer.

That's not a good deal. I have mentioned this a million times i got my 02 I35 with 96k miles for $6100. That is what the car is worth. Anything more than that is overpaying.

Sorry, someone has to ask you this, but how old are you??? 18? 19 ?

That is NOT what the car is worth. Thats what an '02 Maxima is worth. Who'd you buy your car from?
If a dealer, you got taken. I bet you'll find paintwork/body work done if you look close enough and all over the car.
If you got it from an individual, they are probably "well off" and just wanted to get rid of it and didnt have too much experience with selling a car and seeing what market value was.. Or you're just a good negotiater .... Either way, rare instances like that ALWAYS happen but doesn't mean it applies to ALL deals... A family member of mine just got a '98 GS300 with only 80k miles for $6300 ... try finding a GS300 with under 120k miles for that much.

Im 20 actually. no i bought the car from the original owner. there was no body/paint work. Body was in perfect condition, no paint dings what soever. Only thing i had to fix was a O2 sensor which was $300ish. I carfaxed, no accidents.

That's not really a rare instance. The car was listed at $6400. sure you can follow KBB or Edmunds' TMV, but who does. Most smart shoppers can negotiate for less. I can look on craigslist right now and find some more I35s in the $6500 range. Why can we get these cars so cheap? The Nissan/infiniti Brand is not as prestigious of a name like Honda/Acura or Toyota/Lexus or BMW or Audi. People hear those names and they're like ooooh! I originally was looking for a maxima and didn't even have a clue what an I35 was until i saw pics of the inside and told myself "wow, that looks just like a maxima"

All i'm saying is that people who pay $8000 for a maxima are being ripped off when i got my I35 for less. If you look hard enough you can get a maxima for that price or less. And just because a car is cheaper or sold under the supposed market value doesn't mean it has hidden problems. I know more about cars than your average sunday mechanic. $13,000 for an I35 with just 30,000 less miles? Come on, i'd save the $7k and bite the 30,000 miles anyday.
