Trunk issue, please help.

I'll be short and to the point, few days ago I tried to open my trunk and I couldnt, something was in its way, I heard the release click but the trunk would only open 2 inches, I pull it hard and hear something snap, this is the pic of what snapped.

Now my trunk wont hold up and wont bounce up a little when opened by remote ... does anyone know how can I fix this ?

Cannot tell by the pics but there should be a steel bar running under the subwoofer. It acts like a tension bar when the trunk is being opened so that the trunk lid can open easily and with minimal effort.

Did this bar snap or fall out of its housing? If it snapped (I have seen this on other cars, you may need to visit a wrecker to see if you can steal one from a Maxima or I35. Not too sure what it would cost if you were to go to the dealership for this

Interesting mod. I wonder if the mounts can be installed on the underside trunk lid with one end bolted to the frame at an angle around where the weather stripping is located.

That bracket definitely held in a torsion bar.

I agree, cut the other one out and just go with the struts. Installing a torsion bar is a pain.

Take a look at the link and see how comfortable you are with it. Otherwise, time to find a local orger to help you out for a couple bucks.

OR, pay up at a shop to have it fixed.

Everyone has to start being handy sometime...
