I35, drivers power seat switch

My 2002 I35 Driver side forward/backward switch start giving me trouble. I am quite tall and keep in all the way backwards position. When I need to move it forward for my wife to drive the switch clicks but the seat does not move. Sometimes with some manipulation with the switch(up and down and couple of times forward/backward) it starts moving. That tells me the motor is fine and I point to the contacts on the switch.

I really appreciate if somebody can give me a hint. If you replaced the switch (I hope it is the switch), how to remove it?

Thank you very much.

Seat should be simple to remove 4 bolts. After removing bolts lift seat do not unplug
air bag connector wire under seat check connection going to switch (repaired many bwms)and from where they are located they get loose from entering and exits into
vehicle . Check connection before replacing switch.

This is a common problem with this gen of Max/I35. The problem is not the switch - it's actually the seat motor itself. You will need to fully remove the seat and replace the motor. Attached below is a TSB that shows you how to do it.

Yep it's the motor. It's a known "bug" of the otherwise awesome i35/maximas

One of the reccomended items sounds silly, but will provide a bit more life out of the motor (~650$ from the dealer):

-Unbolt the seat
-Flip it up
-Get a hammer or screwdriver, and tap the entire shaft of the seat motor

This will force some of the hydraulic fluid through the motor, and you'll get a bit more life out of it. sounds silly, but it works.

I need to replace mine too, and I'm pretty tall. good news is no one else drives my car, and people who sit in the back better be short

Thank you for your hints, you right it worked for me by tapping on the motor, just moved it from the end position and now it works. I will probably need to replace it when I have time anyway.

Thank you for the link, I downloaded the entire note for future replacement. The part is $200+ online.
