Does anyone notice or feel a small click in their shifter when braking?

I'm in the process of diagnosing my tranyy since it developed a spike (floor it when on the freeway to pass, the RPM's surge, but the car doesn't go faster or drop gears) over the last week.. Wasn't sure if this might be another sign of something electrical going on.. Only electrical mods are led lights all arround the car.

To test, feel your shifter when braking.. Is there a small movement that happens when in drive everytime you hit the brake? Ive been told its the lock mechanism, but I dont think it should engage once in drive.

Thanks!

Yeah, this was talked about to Infinium on the 5th gen board quite a while back. I feel it when in park or very slow speeds (coming to a stop. But not when on the highway or even cruising speeds.

Seems like it might be a relay which tells the lock out switch when it is ok to shift the shifter in or out of park, i.e., if your foot is on the brake.

Kind of wierd it clicks when in drive.. If its normal Im dropping it off my "concerned parts" category.. Unfortunately I have a tranny issue thats shown its ugly head so Im reducing as many variables as possible. The car is rev spiking off an on when I floor the gas on speeds around 60+. Feel like the motor revs, but the tranny doesn't bite thus keeping the car at the same speed. Time to swap fluids and see if any debris is found.. After that is swapped (assuming clean fluid) its off to install a new TCM.

The click is normal, but on the rev issue.

I think the click is the lock for the shifter so you can put into Park/Drive

Cant say its to that point as its off and on (happened twice) and only when I floor it on the freeway.. Off the line it roasts like usual.

Im thinking TCM or shift solenoid is starting to go since the upshifts are smooth and buttery.

Being that it doesn't try to drop a gear even when floored, I would to the TCM or solenoid.

When I floor mine @ 60MPH, it drops down to 2nd, slips like hell, bounces off the limiter for a while, then sloooooooooooowllllllllly engages.
If i do it and it goes to 3rd, it drives just fine.

^^ That sounds about right.. Dropping to second is where the issue is.. 3rd seems good for the most part. I need to do more testing on this since I dont floor it everyday on the freeway .
