Rear chrome strip

I'm wondering if anyone knows if you can take off the chromE strip that's on the rear of the car.

Thanks,
Chuck

I assume you mean the strip with the Infiniti lettering. You can take it off as far as I know, but it will likely leave a gap.

Is there a certain way to take it off or is it just using a screw driver?

I actually took mine off a while back to fix a rattle. Open the trunk, remove the upper liner and you should see some bolt studs. Take the nuts off and it should pop right off. I recall having to take the whole assy. off to do it though (license plate holder and all)

I read on the forum it was really difficult to take off? I want to put the I35 chrome piece instead of the I30 one I have. Any idea if the the I35 piece will fit inside the groove?

I tried taking mine off once and I couldn't get it out in the time I had allotted. I think if I had a panel popper it might have been easier.

Additionally, I think if you want to use the I35 piece, you'll also need the I35 license plate holder/finisher panel as well as the I35 inner tails (and really full I35 tails for aesthetic purposes).

agreed. Look at the rear end of an i30 vs an i35. Much more modification is needed than just replacing the chrome strip. Let us know if you do it though.

I couldn't tell you how, but once I had a small rock stuck between the license plate panel and the actual metal of the trunk - so basically, the rock was behind the license place. I tried to take off cover piece, but its actually plastic and very fragile. The rock is still stuck in there because I didn't want to risk breaking that piece.

Just be careful, it will shatter very easily if pulled the wrong direction.

Yeah, dont just pull on it. You need to make sure all of the bolts are removed from the inside of the lid first.
