Finally saved up the money for the side skirts on my 2001 i30. I ordered them about a month ago from infinitipartspeople.com. Of course nobody in the US has it right now so it was back ordered from japan. A month later (today) I finally get them in.
I open the package in a fit of joy and start drilling holes in my car. I get the plastic brackets in and OH MY GOD, IT LOOKS LIKE UPS DROPPED A CINDER BLOCK ON THEM. So now im back to step 1, but with holes in my car. I filed a claim with UPS but lets not forget, the closest replacement is still in japan.
Rule of thumb: Don't open packages that look like this
I would actually just settle for a partial refund but it's bent to the point that it doesn't fit right. This picture doesn't do it justice, the paint is also spider web cracked on the visible part.
From the inside
And I have to get used to these holes for a while, It adds character.
I actually didn't drill mine on yet.. Good ole quality double sided automotive tape FTW..lol

Seriously? And it stays on there? How long have you had them? I might actually do that for the other side b/c the template and instructions was a PITA
I want to say a full month now.. The ends are mounted by the stock holes... The middle part of the piece is where sagging would occur so I bought about $20 worth of double sided automotive grade tape and put it over the "pods" that hold the plastic fastener on the sideskirt ( i think 5 or six, see yellow tabs in pics on top). Along with that I ran a full strip along the ridged side and also the bottom of the skirt that would stick to the underbody... I pressed into the mount a good 10 times and after a while the glue held on.. The only part I might screw into is the bottom just to support the middle, but I am very confident tht this will not ever fly off uless directly stepped on with considerable force.. Another bonus is that you can later sell the skirts since your car is not drilled into (yours is, but for those considering)..

I'm going to do that for the other side for sure, what was the brand of the tape? PM me if you don't want to break forum posting rules. I appreciate it.
I went to Pepboys and got either the trimbrite brand or any other OEM approved double sided adhesive tape...Should work just fine as long as you make sure to clean off the sills before applying.. Just a disclaimer: I live in California.. In colder weather this application might not work for you.. If doubtful on the install, mount screws underneath to ensure the middle doesn't sag...

Yeah, I've worked at UPS for almost 4 years now. UPS hires anybody and I mean anybody. Lots of nice stuff gets crushed and what not. It's sad to see a x-box 360 fall 10 feet onto steel grating. So uh....sorry guys.
The best double sided tape is 3M, red backing, thick gray tape. Package labels it as exterior moulding tape IIRC.
Ha, you beat me to it. No doubt, 3m has a lock on the body moulding tape, other kinds just plain don't work.
Also, another important thing is to heat it up, you can use a heat-gun obviously, but I prefer to very quickly pas a propane-torch over it. That stuff is like superglue if you heat it up and than install immediatly and keep firm pressure until your arms give up.
