White Led's in Clock and HID's PICS

Got bored tonight so i snapped off some pics of my HID kit and clock after i put white LED bulbs in it..

The LED's are from autolumination, type b white led

The HIDs are a 6000k hit and the output is REALLY good with minimal glare

Its hard to get a good night time shot but they are really bright and you can see the color is pretty cool.. The fogs are 4 dollar amber h3 bulbs from autolumination.. They arent is300 yellow but they are more yellow than stock

I like the LEDs in the clock. Mine are actually out, so I need to replace them. How many LEDs does it take?

2 LEDs, been too lazy to do the mod even though I already bought the bulbs haha.

So you pop off the center vents from the side, then just life the top piece up and remove clock right?

It looks like it was suppose to come that way. I've been meaning to switch to led interior lights for a while. But I know nothing about them what-so-ever and i've been too lazy/busy to research that.

Someone asked in my navigation thread about how to get to the clock. Here's what I posted:

It's easier than it sounds to get to the clock, and you don't even have to take the nav screen out because its not connected to the dash piece at all - just make sure the screen is down when you work on it. Pry off the vent piece (works best to pry with a cloth/flat screw driver on the left side of the vent btwn the dash and vent piece). There are only two screws that hold the top cover on that hides the navigation screen. Unscrew them (they're right in the front and you'll see them when you pull off the vent) and the top dash piece should snap out if you pull it toward you and slightly up. The rest is self explanitory.

hey! i was wondering about that! I asked somewher before and someone said that the clock didn't have bulbs! (Or LEDs for that matter). but My reading lights, the once close to the sunglass holder are out too. Is there a possibility of a fuse being broken?

The clock lights are on the same fuse as the dash/gauge lights, and interior illumination (including the map lights) is on its own fuse. It's just a coincidence that they're both out.

what color are the clock lights from the factory? i've never seen them in my car, when i fist got the car i thaught infiniti is really stupid for not putting a light in there but after a while i realized maybe the bulb is out. this sounds like a good little project for my right now. About hid's, for some reason our non-hid head lamps really dont glare as much as other cars that i ve seen on the road.i actually came straight towards my car and it didnt bother me at all but when im driving at night i can see from the side my car lighting up houses and stuff.

Actually make sure you look for

Neo - Wedge LED Instrument Panel Bulbs Type A, B & C

(Note to choose the correct bulb, measure the diameter of the base)

Choose type B and whatever color you want.. I went with super white..

The install is really easy. I found it easier to turn the vents down and put my fingers in there and yank strait out After that you will see 2 screws to remove the top trim. There is no need to remove the clock from its trim. Just turn it around and the bulbs will looks like 2 grey screws.. When you install the new leds make sure you try them out before you re assemble the dash.. There is a 50/50 chance they wont work the first time as the led contacts are polarity specific. If it doesnt work the first time just turn the bulb around.

Purple might look cool. Im all for things no one else has done.

Red LED = too Pontiac
Blue LED = too ricer
Teal LED = too Chrysler 300m (those even have an analog clock in the dash, too).

Now purple LEDs for the clock, there's an idea!

Go White LED . Im biased since my license plate and almost every other bulb on my car has been swapped to LED's.

Nope.. I heard thats a custom job... I want to pop the bulb out to see why a standard 194 wont fit... Someone in the 5.5 crowd was selling kits that fit up in the map lights and the courtesy lights ont he doors.. HE hasn't got back to me on the map lights so I dont know if he is stocking anymore.

Ordered the bulbs, followed the instructions found in this thread and installed the LEDs. With the exception of removing a stuborn bulb it was an easy mod. Thansk for the advice and input.

So as far as swaping the actual bulb. Is it a direct swap?

Yup.. Once the light is free the new bulbs screw right in.. The rubber cover on the stock bulb is not needed for the led's. They look awesome..

I am thinking I might also try to swap the bulbs in the climate control/radio to match up the clock and the shifter...

Yes. They look exactly the same as the OEM bulbs. Very straightforward. I had to remove the clock b/c one of the bulbs was sticking and it was easier to get out that way. Otherwise, very easy.

Are you saying that you put LEDs in your clock and they're not working?

If so, then:
-check that the wiring harness is securely attached
-turn the LEDs 180 degrees from how you have them currently seated

LED clock and temp gauges

Hello All

This is my first post, I just bought a 2001 i30 last night, its niceeeee and I was going to try to change my clock light like you guys did and my dash lights on the heating/air control. I was wondering if you just pop off the cover on the temp part just like the clock?

The more detials the better I am not the best with this stuff.

Thanks a lot for the help!
