Installing I35 grill on I30

I picked up an I35 grill for my 2001 I30 but I can't seem to figure out how to install it. I'm sure I'm just not seeing something simple. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I did search but didn't come up with much other than that the I35 grill will directly bolt on.

there should be a couple nuts and screws where the i30 grill it, just take those off and the i30 grill should come right with it

It's very simple. Its been a while since I swapped out mine, but there are either a few small plastic clips or screws on the back. Just pop open the hood & look on the back of the grille. I'm sure you can figure it out from there.

Where did you get yours?

I saw a few junk yard ones for $50+

Then there are these on eBay for $33 shipped: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/INFIN...spagenameZWD1V

Anyone have experience with the ebay grilles?

That's not a grille. That's a chrome dress-up kit for someone who already has an I35 grille.

My concern is the weather stripping that surrounds the grill. It's unusable on the I35 grill I have and I'm concerned that it might get trashed when I remove the current grill. And I can't figure out what those eBay kits add...the slats on the I35 grill I have are already a satin chrome color.

Okay I'm starting to have second thoughts...now I'm going back and forth on whether or not to do this swap. Anyone want to help push me in one direction or another?

Like Clayman said, it's a pretty simple procedure. just open the hood and look behind the grille. You will see approximately six nuts all around the grille. Remove them with a 8mm socket (I think, it's only been 5 years). After you have done this, it is the exact opposite for the installation on the I35 grille as it comes with the threaded studs already installed.

I dont remember transplanting any weather stripping, but either way it is not a big deal.

LOL those before and after pictures cracks me up.

Before: bad lighting, dirty car, blurry picture
After: good lighting, clean car, sharp picture

I am liking the I35 grille more now, I used to like the I30 grille more, but now I want a change.

I agree with NewLoveI30. I swapped out my I30 grille for the I35 grille just as he described about six months ago. Took me no more than 10 minutes. I also do not recall any weather stripping.

Is a junk yard the only place you can find the I35 grille? If I can find one I will definately make the swap.

You can get them new from the dealer but they're around $200 or so IIRC.

So you would recommend just pulling the old weather stripping off the I35 grill?

Well two things have happened to change things: I put the I35 grill on (quite easy) and I decided that I prefer the I30 grill. Then I got my textbook bill in the mail, so now I need the cash so my I35 grill is for sale.

I don't remember any weather stripping either. I think you're making this MUCH more difficult than it needs to be.

How much do you want for the grille. I will buy it for a reasonable price. I know the pain in the rear end textbooks can be!
