I wrecked my I30!

Actually, I'm not happy at all, given the fact that I've spent close to $7,000 in repairs, and replaced almost everything mechanical on it.

The damage to the front is very extensive - I rearended a van going about 15miles per hour. The hood is completely bent, the left headlight assembly is pushed in and broken, the bumper pushed back, the left quarter panel is bowed out, and there is some internal damage as well.

My concern, is that given that the car has 172,000 miles, the insurance company will total it. If this does in fact happen, would it be wiser for me to have the car stripped and sell the parts that way?

Sry to hear that, happened to me twice now so I know how you feel. But yeah, if you pop an airbag or more, they will total it. Pics?

they will total it but you might be able to get some money for recent repairs if you have reciepts. when they total it, and if they don't want too much, buy it back and part it out.

Unless you got a host of aftermarket goodies on it, I would not bother buying it back...

Sorry to hear! Clear your head of what you have invested in that car (unless a lot of after market valuables) as it is a loss. Just think about what you want to do moving forward.

How did you mess up a quarter panel if you rear ended someone going 15mph?

What do you mean by internal damage? Airbags? If the bags blew its definitely a total.
