Tough choice

Im thinking about selling the I30 and getting something a little more......faster. I have a friend who knows someone is selling an e36 m3 turbo. Also i know someone else who is willing to sell their e46 m3 for a reasonable price. But theres more, someone by my house is selling their 2000 S4 for $14k, but its an Auto. Now i want Maxima.org to decide what to get.

I hope you have a good mechanic ready to maintain either one. The S4's 2.7T engine will be a NIGHTMARE. Everyone I know who owns one is an Audi tech. The only way I'd own a German car would be if I had full warranty coverage the whole time I owned it. I gave a lot of thought to a 2000 Mercedes C280 Sport before I bought my I30, and one of the things that pushed me towards the I30 was that a brake job on the C280 was over $1000 and an oil change was $100.

I saw the M45 engine thing...was there something else? One ill-informed thread doesn't make someone a bad member.

Trust us here. It's not a one-thread deal. Even the .org's not that harsh.

i dont get it, you make it sound like its an impossible task, my friend has made his Jetta RWD from the ****ty FWD he has. I know plenty of people that are willing to help me doing it, but instead of investing money into making my car with 136k miles have RWD, i can invest into something newer and get a faster car with RWD. The maybe with the upcomming tax return turbo an e36 m3, or just wait for it and get the e46 m3.

and BTW, the people and bimmerforums are a lot more helpful with maxima/infiniti then half the people on these forums are

No they aren't. I was flamed out of that place for daring to suggest that an A33 I30 or W202 Mercedes C-class was comprable to the deity they consider the E46 to be.

Have you met soonerfan yet?

But back to your original question, get the E46 M3, buy a warranty and enjoy.

And make sure you have a large stash of money for things the warranty doesn't cover. This is one reason I will be sticking with Infiniti for at least my next car...maintenance is SO much cheaper than on a German car.

Yeah, because I've been a member for about 5 years now and have nowhere near the number of posts as others who have been around that long.

By the way, you're talking about buying another car? Maybe you should invest some of that money into your education (Focus on the areas of spelling and grammar).

That, or I suppose you could change your location to, "Dumb as a Brick, NJ."

I'm confused....did you already get the M3 or not? If you really want our opinion, we'll need WAY more details. How "reasonable" is the m3 & how many miles on it's ticker?

While that's a little harsh, you do have a point. I'm not going to be spending anything on my car besides maintenance, gas, and insurance. All the money I make this summer will be going towards grad school (I'm a junior in college now and starting to think about what comes after finishing undergrad). I've come to realize that at this age beyond a point there are smarter things to spend money on than cars. For me, I set my budget at $10K + my 1995 G20 in trade when I bought my I30. And I was able to stick to it. By investing in my education with the money I make now, I will increase my earnings potential later and eventually afford the BMW M5 I really want.

first of all, im going to Penn State next year, they are giving me $15k because of my academics through my high school career. The campus im going to costs around 18k a year. So thats only 3k myself and my parents have to pay every year.

Second im 17, with a good job that pays me $17=tips/hour, i make around $25/hour on good day.

What kind of job are you doing that pays you $17 plus tips at age 17? You're certainly not being a waiter or bartender because your not 18. I'm not flaming you, i really want to know this.

I got into the car business at 17 (I've spent summer breaks from school working in the car business since then) and made a lot of money doing that, so that kind of money is not unheard of at that age. I made enough last summer to pay for my A33.

I'm not saying you couldn't make that money. I'm 22 and i have my I30, a minivan, and a bike along with my hobbies of snowboarding, paintballing, and drinking. But if you were 17, and getting paid $17, thats awesome. I've heard of it, but on top making $8 tips.....dunno how u can do that...thats why i asked. Again i wasn't trying to flame him, just wanted to know cause at $25 an hour, thats around 52k a year....

Do arcades even exist anymore? I thought Nintendo, Sega, & Sony killed the arcades a long time ago. And if an arcade does exist, them making anywhere near enough money to pay an employee $17 an hour + tips and than overhead, games, taxes, electricity, etc.... seems very unlikely IMO. Impossible, no, just very unlikely.

I never tipped anyone when I went to an arcade as a youngster. Was I doing something wrong?

i consider tipping as the following:

finding money on the floor

selling stuffed animals/prizes bs to bennies who need it so much

fixing quarter jams, its around $3 every quarterjam, you do the math

This bullsh!t is over.

Oh and Penorz, seriously talking about how you want to convert your A33 to RWD shows just how little you know about automotive performance modifications.
