Rattle Making Me Go Insane!!! Advice Needed
Whats up, my I brethren? This issue just started within the last week and has been driving me nuts! Up until now, my 01 I30 has been rock-solid with no squeaks or rattles, but now all of a sudden I've got this incredibly irritating rattling coming from the left front post.
I know that is kinda vague, but the only time I hear it usually is at speeds of 35+ so its hard to determine where its coming from, while driving, without jumping the curb and killing someone. The only thing I can think of is maybe the tweeter is blown, but I'm hoping thats not the case. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on this?

put electrical tape on the clips.. that interlock into teh body... and also put sponge or something that can minimize free movement.. i hear your pain i haev some sounds... that im isolating one by one... its hard unless youc an get osmeone else to drive the car so you can move around and home in on the squeaks

I am getting some rattling too, I have no idea where it's coming from either. Must be the cold weather that's shrinking some materials, leaving some gaps between them, the crappy roads here aren't helping either.

Well, I'm glad you guys don't think I'm crazy then. Over the weekend I really tried hard to figure out where its coming from and I think it might be coming from either the post or the dash area where the air vent is.
I asked my wife if she threw some garbage down the air vent, but she didn't appreciate my humor.
So, does anyone have the cojones to rip apart the dash?

I've been driving the I more than normal just to try and figure iut what this is. My noise seems to happen between 20and 35 mph's and seems to be directly related to torque at those lower speeds. I believe it's external(meaning engine bay or suspension/brake area). I'm almost positive it's coming from the front driver's side(w/rattles you never know). I've listened to the noise a number of times with the door open and these were my observations. I still have no idea what the noise is, but I surely don't like it or how I can recreate it with ease.

The rattle I'm hearing really sounds like its coming from the pillar now..espcially down towards where it meets the dash. If it wasn't too dificult, I'd like to pull that panel off, but not sure how.

I have a 96. So it is not identical. But I've had a rattle/clunk from the passenger side pillar cover with the tweeter in it. I know why this one rattles. I had to fix the sunroof, where you have to take off most of the upper interior (no dast or center consles, thank god!). When that pillar was off someone stepped on the end and broke off the tab that ensures tha it fits properly. If you ever taken it off it could have a broken piece (It was cracked, but couldn't tell until it rattled and I took it back off). It sounds like though that yours is probly worn and not fitting as well as it use to. You can put some tape or the loop side of velcro on the key contact areas and that will probaly solve the problem. If it still makes noise then buy a new one it should be "NICE AND TIGHT." www.everythingnissan.com can get you one cheap!
