Another question of my own... I have a 1998 I30 150k miles....today I pulled the cap off my coolant expansion tank and discovered a horrible smelling brown sludge instead of coolant. I will be flushing the system saturday, and Ill see what happens, but just wondering if any of you have run into the same situation. Im worried headgaskets are leaking oil into the coolant (the car does loose a LOT of oil, it seems to all be accounted for on the ground though) and the car is done for. However its never overheated, and the oil shows no signs of coolant, and there is no white smoke. Thoughts?
How did you show her how easy it is was to swap everything out if you couldn't get the headlight out
Remove two 10mm bolt on top, then remove one push tab, 10mm bolt, one Philips screws from beneath the front bumper directly under the fog lights. Pull back undertray, remove 10mm bolt holding fog light housing, remove fog light housing, then you'll see the last and hidden 10mm bolt holding the headlight from bottom.
The bulb you need is D2R, I personally recommend sticking to OEM bulbs for maximum brightness. You'll need to remove the igniter cap, held in by 3 screws, then will have access to the bulb.
Hey man thanks for the reply. My Mom got scared when I started talking about bolts and decided to go to Infinti!
But hold your laughter... they wanted $1000 to replace the headlight!!
They said the ballast was broken... yeah, bull****. So I'm going to end up doing it for her. But I can't find the "D2R" bulb your are talking about on an Nissan genuine parts websites. Can you point me to a link?
have a 96 i30 auto. any suggestions on recipe for 300 whp ? so far have a stillen high flow intake , warpspeed y pipe thinking of changing to cattman though .
Not 100%, but this was indicative of blown headgaskets when it occurred in my Supra, twice. Another indication - typically when you turn the car off it should draw coolant from the overflow bottle as it cools, with a blown gasket it will push coolant out of the bottle and onto the ground.
Napa used to sell a kit that went onto the top of the radiator and tested for hyrocarbons in the coolant.
Hey just bought a 96 i30t was just wondering what my best bet would be on where to get an intake and complete ehaust less the manifolds thanks
P.S. I'm new to forums not to cars (infiniti tech) don't need how to's just where to get parts
If you want more sound, than any intake will work. If you want the best overall power, stick with the stock intake. For aftermarket, the PR CAI is your best bet.
As for an exhaust, you can get them anywhere. Which one to get, that's personal preference. If you've got the money, Cattman is the 'premier' exhaust system out there, really.
