Cold Start Problem

Cold Start Problem
My car starts fine in the cold weather but when I put it into gear, it dies as soon as I let off the gas. I have to let it warm up until the needle is atleast at the C for it not to die on me. What is causing this problem?

Minnesota.
Couldn't resist. Seriously though, it sounds like it could be a couple of different things. Start with the cheap solutions first.
I would start by adding a bottle o' injector cleaner and follow it up with a bottle of dry-gas at the next tank. Of course, this may not give you the results you want as soon as you want them. (I was 16 also).
Beyond that and I'm thinking TPS, fuel pump or crank shaft angle sensor, o2 sensors, wires or a host of other stuff that can get expensive.
Does the CEL light ever come on?
Also, give us the year & trim model.
