I need some new fluid (GL4) for my manual tranny. 12 quarts to a case, right? How much does a case cost shipped to 20895?

What are the differences in engine oil? I probably need a case of 5w-30.

What size are the oil filters?

Sent you a PM with the total cost and shipping info for the gear oil. I can save you ~$26 on the case.

AMSOIL offers several "families" of oils...XL, regular 100% synthetic and the Series 2000 are the most popular for automotive use. All the oils are good, but they are formulated with different basestock/additive packages to extend the service life. The XL oils are guaranteed for 7500 miles/6-months (or longer); the 100% Synthetic offers up to 25,000 mile/1 year drain intervals, and the Series 2000 will provide up to 35,000 mile/1 year change interval. Most people don't use the oil to the full limit, but some do. The XL and 100% are offered in several viscosities including 5w-30; while the Series 2000 is available in 0w-30 (or 20w-50). The XL oils are the least expensive and the Series 2000 is the most expensive.

Concerning the filter size, the AMSOIL EaO-13 is virtually identical in size to the OEM filter. I can also get Wix filters to fit. While Wix filters are very high quality, they must be changed at intervals recommended by the OEM. The AMSOIL EaO filters can be used for up to 25K/1 year...it is recommended you change the filter each time you change the oil.

Let me know if you want to add oil or filters to the order...I can recalculate the price. If you can send me your e-mail address in a PM I will send you tech data sheets on the products.

Amsoil's regular oils are great. They're a good, honest, clear, noticeable step up from Mobil 1. My dad's 2000 Acura 3.2TL is running the 5w-30 with an EaO filter, and I used to run the 10w-30 with an EaO filter in my car when it had the original engine. Freakin' awesome in both cases -- my dad is taking his car out to 12.5k miles between changes, and that is on the conservative side.

The XL-Series is the budget line. Still really good, but not quite as good as the regular stuff. Not worth stepping down to, IMO.

Series 2000 is the uber-crush-everything line: the Series 2000 0w-30 is arguably the best oil ever made for gasoline engines in cars. It's formulated like a racing oil but made to consumer car specs. To make a long story short, it gives you the cold-weather and fuel economy advantages of a thin oil, with the lubrication, film strength, and breakdown resistance of a thick oil. BMW M3 guys who road race their cars switch to this stuff from the relatively esoteric factory oil and never look back.

Not to equate myself to an M3 driver who road races, but I also switched to the Series 2000 0w-30 and never looked back. It's running with an EaO filter in my very hard-driven DE-K right now, and treating me extremely well. It could clearly go much longer than the 8k miles I give it between changes, but I drain it at that interval to make myself feel better.

What is the difference between MTG, MTL and MT-90?

Just installed a lightened flywheel and performance clutch on my 93 se 5-spd and would like to use amsoil.

Do mostly street driving and would like the new setup to last. What do you recommend and how many quarts?

Well, first of all, MTG is an Amsoil product whereas MTL and MT-90 are Redline products...

MTG is the one you want from Amsoil. It is formulated to cope with the moderate amount of extreme pressure that Maxima transmissions generate. MTG is equivalent to Redline MT-90.

Redline MTL is equivalent to Amsoil MTF. You don't want those fluids because they are made for transmissions that need thinner fluid and don't generate a lot of extreme pressure, so they wouldn't be able to cope with all of the stresses in your transmission.

hey guys. I bought some Amsoil and fell for the sales pitch. the oil is good stuff (filters not as good as they claim) but to be honest you would be better off buying Mobil1 or German Castrol (the pure synthetic version of Castrol). Buying Amsoil from "Dealers" is so much of a headache. FYI Amsoils filters themselves claim 98.7% effeciency while Mobil1 has 99.2%. not product bashing but just presenting an alternative point of view. if this isnt the right place to put this let me know.

This is clearly not the "right place" for your alternative point of view; it is very in poor taste; and your claims are unfounded. You are responding to a ligitimate offer to sell products, posted in the proper section by a respected member of this site.

You state you "fell for the sales pitch" from some dealer (not me) yet you go on to say the "oil is good stuff". You then reverse yourself by stating that people would be "better off" buying another product, but you offer no reason. You state that "buying from dealers is so much of a headache" yet it so happens that I am a Dealer, and you can see from my feedback that I have a 100% positive rating. You also infer that Mobil 1 filters have a higher efficiency rating than AMSOIL filters do, and you're wrong...you obviously fell for Mobil's marketing smoke and mirrors as Mobil does not openly state the micron size for that efficiency rating. As long as you brought it up, I have access to that data and will clarify this point. AMSOIL filters are 100% efficient at 20 microns and larger; 98.7% efficient at 15 microns, 98% efficient at 10 microns and 80.2% efficient at just 5 microns. Just like they do with their motor oils, AMSOIL is the only maufacturer to print their ratings/performance on every filter they make. Mobil-1 Extended performance filters perform to 99.2% efficiency at 25 microns, and they are only 50% efficient at 10 microns. So if you can find a better filter than the AMSOIL EaO on the market today, please let me know.

I have been a member of this site for several years; I am a Donating Member and site Sponsor; I have a near 100% retention rate (repeat business) with customers, Preferred Customers and downline dealers; I have processed hundreds of orders for our members and have saved them thousands of dollars (~25%) on their purchases with quality service and no hassles. I have also personally used synthetic oils since they were first introduced in the marketplace over 30 years ago and began using AMSOIL in the early '80's. In addition to selling oil to my fellow Maxima owners, you can not begin to imagine the expensive hardware I support...boats, hi-performance muscle cars (Rousch Mustangs, Corvettes), high-end and performance motorcycles (Ducati's, BMW, moto guzzi, HD, Kawasaki), Dodge Hemi's, Nissan Titan, tons of BMW cars including M-3's, Audi's, Volvo, a Cadillac CTS-V, diesel trucks, etc, etc... I also have some pretty significant commercial accounts that rely on AMSOIL products (oil, filters, ATF and gear oil) to reduce maintenance frequency and costs and to improve the reliability of their equipment.

This is a country where we have choices...and if you have chosen to use another product, that's fine. It also so happens that most of my customers have tried other brands of synthetics in their engines (and some even work for places where they sell other brands) but choose to use AMSOIL because they believe it offers the best value in terms of performance, price, convenience and environmental responsibility.

While I regret you received what you believe to be less than satisfactory service from another dealer, this post is an offer to sell products to our members at a discounted price and it is posted in the appropriate section. This is clearly not the place for you to express your dissatisfaction with another dealer or to post your opinion about the products (with or without any supporting facts). Please post in the appropriate section.
