yeah dont pay them. they get money to do a job right, its not your fault they cant do it.

they should either keep trying until they get it right or apologize for wasting your time because they cant do the work and not make you pay a cent

they have everythin they need to get it done they just don't know i used their shop to do the swap and they said they can do eletrical ist been 2 months working on the same thing cost me over 200 to print both FSM. I always believe in saying I don't know or I can't do it, don't take a job for the money and try to do it

No tell them to give you your car. They can't make you pay for a job that's not complete. Would you pay a barber if he only cut half your hair and said he couldn't finish and left you with half a haircut? Threaten them with a lawyer.

they can seize your car with a mechanics lien for failure to make payment, however if the work is incomplete it may be possible to fight it.

(Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, therefore this post is not an adequate legal reference).

You should just have to pay for work already complete. Get documentation of their hourly rate and the estimate. You will need all this information if it goes to court. Your swap has probably never been accomplished but since they wanted notoriety for helping with it, they took on the task even though they couldn't get it done. They probably just want more money for the shop space and man hours they worked on it even though by law they have a set rate, so don't let them run you over. You might want to call the local police to get more advice of what you can do since you don't want any altercations.

Are we talking about your RB26DETT conversion? Cos if so you didn't mention 99% of the details ..

You've done an RB26DETT swap with RWD conversion - that part you should defintely pay for but any of the mucking around with electrics afterwards I think you should only pay like a percentge of it but not all

reading your thread on ECU issues I've been thinking for a while if you took the car to a specialist Jap sports car shop you would be up and running by now

Pay em for the swap but not for the much around

ok so I went with the cops and they told me to pay then take the car to another shop have them go over the work then take them to court for the cost to get the job done right that sounds like a good deal to me and just before the cop left the shop the told them see you in court so this might be a good thing for me

Well there are a bunch of ways to interpret it! I think the fact that she even asks a second time after it had been already decided it will just be the two of you is enough of a warning for me!
In that situation I would pay for her friend as well. Or.. You can come up with a reason to not make it with notice of course and apologize.. then tell her you would like to make it up to her with dinner!
