got quaife in....and had TWO good races...

So I got my car back yesterday with my quaife ATB installed after a month of downtime (had to find a replacement tranny case). Anyway, the quaife is AMAZING...you can go halfway around a corner in first...floor it...and it just pulls right through the corner. I did some practice highspeed corners yesterday and I was getting OVERSTEER at full throttle instead of the usual understeer...anyway...to say the least...it's argueably the best mod I've done to my car to date.

now to the juicy stuff....

Jason (MAX2000JP) and I were cruising up to a little maxi meet last night and had a run-in with a Supercharged Miata with a GIRL driving it. She was tailing me on the tollway and so I tell Jason, "this miata's gonna get the business when it tries to pass me" so I only downshifted to 4th at about 75-80mph, I figured I could easily take the MX-5 without knocking it down to third. Anyway...lane opens up..and SHE comes flying by...I hit it...and she's still pulling....finally I get into the VQs power band...and start SLOWLY reeling her back in....it took me til the top of 4th gear to catch and pass her. Jason and I were both very confused as to why this little Miata was so fast. Anyway...she pulls up next to us and signals me to roll down my window...and she's like "is that thing supercharged???" I'm like...NOPE...just bolt-ons.....turns out she was forced induction....so she's like let's run again.....so we line up at 70mph (I'm in third this time ) and without me noticing...Jason turns on my Nitrous...and he's like, "give it to her dude"....so I hit it...and suddely realize that he had turned on the juice.....as I jet to a 3 car lead right away...after that she didn't want to play again.

Second race...much less eventful...but still cool cuz I hadn't raced an Integra Type-R yet....

we pulled up next to a modded Type-r at about 70...and I gave him the "look"....he pulls behind me...and we're off (NO NOS) he started at my rear bumper and by 140 I had about 4 cars on him.

How much is this mod? and how long did it take to install?

The Quaife differential for the Maxima is $1445, available exclusively from my firm (we pre-funded the R&D and mfg by Quaife in England).

A competent installation seems to take about 8-9 hours. Not a job for amateurs, though a couple of customers have installed their own. No different than replacing the stock unit.

I've been pleasantly surprised a time or two after adding mods to my car. It's amazing how much better the car drives afterwards. The new suspension made a huge difference in handling. The Cattman Y-pipe did a lot to add more top-end power. And the Cattman/Quaife Differential added mounds of traction. It is, by far, my best mod to date. If you don't have one of these in your car, nor one on order, get a move on! You'll be glad you did. Enjoy.

Brian, now that you have a tranny on your car(not on RT 83) were gonna have to run again. We haven't raced since I put on the y-pipe, I want to see how much of a fight I can put up.
