My New Ride - Finally!!!!

Oh man, what a long day. I've been talking to the owner of this Maxima for a couple weeks now and finally made it happen. It's a 2001 AE-MT with black leather and 78K. I flew out at 6am this morning and arrived in Tampa, FL around 10am. Looked the car over, fell in love, bought it and drove the 600 miles back to Birmingham, Al. I Got back a couple hours ago and spent a little time cleaning the road crap off the car. If it was possible, I think I might just make love to this car..lol, it's awesome.
This car is immaculate and was very very well taken care of. The owner has every service record and every reciept having to do with the car. All the big stuff has been done so all I have to do is drive it. It feels good to be a Maxima owner again.
What do you guys think?

Here's a pic of the car at one of the Florida rest stops.

Am I missing something?

I was worried about the all black interior, but it actually has grey pillar trim and headliner so it looks very nice. The tinited windows keep the car very cool, but it's going to have to come off. We're only allowed 32% in Alabama and the car has 10% on the back and 20% on the sides.

The interior and the drivetrain are perfect. I've just got a few cosmetic things to take care of:

-headlights are cloudy (someone told me Brasso will fix that)
-grind and polish some curb rash on two of the wheels
-Clean the engine compartment
-rubbing coupound the bug guts off the front.

Not really. My 98 mt had an intake, some engine work and some aftermarket exhaust. It was nice, but too loud. I had planned on doing an intake on this one and some other stuff, but I love how quiet and smooth the car is. I plan on upgrading the brakes and maybe some light exhuast work..somehitng very tame and mild. I'd also like to add a short throw shifter. The stock shifter seems a little flimsy.

Nice car man, makes me miss my 2000 SE. The build on those were a bit better than my 6gen was- especially the seats and interior. That's a great car enjoy it and take care of her.

Oh, I see, since it didn't come with the a little sticker, it's not a 4DSC?
Or...maybe there was a sticker and it just blew off as I was blowing past a 3rd gen.

Absolutely not. I plan on keeping her prestine and taking very good care of her. The previous owners obviously did so I've already got a head start on that.

Back when I had a 4th gen, I had a tag that read "4DSC". Are you saying, that having that tag made me a poser?
You know what, I'm going to get the same tag for my 5th gen..and make it my avatar just to stir the pot...

Well, I spent the day tuning the car up and taking care of all the small stuff. Which wasn't much. I've got all the service records and they pretty much already took care of it all. Seriously, the way they took care of this car gets me a little excited.

This week, the brakes will get done along with some red powdercoated calipers. I wasn't going to go with red, but I think they will look sweet behind the 17" AE wheels.

I've already hit the headlights with some Brasso and they look much better. Not good as new, but better. When I search around and figure out what to do in the way of bulbs, I'll Brasso the foglights too. I want the headlights and the foglights to give off blue light. If I'm not mistaken, I think I can just do bulbs for now and not ahve to do the HID conversion...right?

Wednesday she goes into the paint/detail shop to get whatever needs to be done. I know there are a couple spots that need touch up but hopefully they can get all the bugs off without having to do any extensive work.

When the rims are off getting the brakes done, I'll probably try carefully grinding the curb rash down and polishing it with the dremel.

I'll be sure to post pics later this week of the progress.

Your car was actually the color I wanted, but I never could find one. I looked for a couple months and never found one that color. I saw alot of blue, burgandy and a few white ones. I only saw one black one. I found a white one in Houston I really loved, but they were asking $3000 more than what I paid for mine.

sick ride man. Looks like mine but with tint and no dents in it! SWEET! Mines already at 159k you will want to put some serious miles on her. I have a short shifter which is well worth it. It came with some catback thats got a pretty low rumble, not ricey at all. Do a FSTB and cross drilled rotors and you'll immediately notice a difference in the day to day driving. I just got progress springs with KYB AGX's up front and they feel NICE....exit speed out of the corners is noticeably greater. Great car to start with, look forward to a great next 100000 miles.

Exactly. I'm very particular when it comes to cars. If I'm going to spend that much money on somehting, it has to be exactly what I want. Thats aprt of the reason I went so far to get it. That, and I just like the excitement of the travel.

Yep, the car is fully loaded. The original window sticker was in the glovebox and from what I can tell, the car has every option available for that year. It is also a Meridian Edition car.
