It's not really my car's fault but what pisses me off is that it hasn't yet met its full potential...But I'm gonna work on that soon enough..

Fuel economy is horrible on the automatic 3.0 if your driving habits aren't the greatest ,and driving slow is no fun

my 3rd gen is like that, shes automatic and i go through a quarter tank every 2 days. i admit i do fast starts and speed but i dont let her go below 3/4 of a tank of gas (always want fresh running through) so i basically have to get $10 of gas every 2 days, premium 91. worth it for the fun of aggressive driving

i can partly blame my magnaflow, having a exhaust like that on a auto you have to punch the pedal to get a nice sound

keepin it that full and topping off means you are only adding a little fresh at a time, meaning some of the stuff that can be in there is really really old. drain it down to the dregs, and you are putting in ALL new gas. logic > j00

That there were some BRILLIANT engineers that over-designed some of the smaller, needn't be complicated parts and assigned to stupid ones to the major fastener components

I heard something along the lines to this also. Only difference is that I heard it can clog your fuel system with the sediment. I rarely let my baby go below 1/4 tank unless I'm financially strapped.

Things I hate about my Maxima(s):

- Really thin paint (both 1993 and 2003)

- Premium fuel requirement (1993 and 2003)

- Bose components are hideously expensive. I scrapped the entire system after my 1993's system went out after getting the price on a factory replacememt.

- Nav system is CD based (requiring me to buy 6/7 for the entire country at about $125 per CD) - 2003

- Nav system controls climate system via touch screen ( a huge repair expense waiting to happen) - 2003

Things I hate about my 2001 GLE

1) The fact that my damn airbag light continues to flash on a random basis, Ill reset it and it will come back on shortly after...Took it to the dealership and they fixed it....yea well ITS BACK ON, and not under warranty

2) P0430 - Its my precat....didnt happen until 5000 miles "AFTER" the emissions warranty was up

3) Squeak..squeak....squeakty...squeak..from the rear with all new suspension

4) ABS light is on *sighs* pulsing griniding at pedal EVERY TIME I START THE CAR...this just started

5) I just dropped 2k into a car to get a new ECU, throttle body, IACV...and now i want my G35 coupe MORE THAN EVER

6) everything in my glove box friggin RATTLES!!!

7) my center console groans every time i hit a bump.....

8) My front driver side suspension groans sometimes

9) Turn radius is HORRIBLE

10) Gas door

It seems beyond weird to me that my 2007 Maxima has power everything in the world, heated everything in world... and yet the doors don't auto lock when the car is put in gear and/or reaches a certain speed.... WTH?

We put almost 40K on the 07 SE in 2 yrs as a daily commuter car and here is what we do not like:

Turning radius too big
Doors sound and feel light and tinny when being closed gently.....Corvette and MB sound and feel heavy and solid.
On the few times we have had to use the key in the ignition, it is a ***** to make it go in correctly
When a back window is down (dog), we have to put a front window down a little to eliminate the weird air pressure created
OEM battery died in 18 months

I just wish the 09 did 0 - 60 4.8 secs and the 1/4 @ 13.2 stock!
Now that would be a great Maxima!

The constant squealing coming from the driver front tire, but now after taking my car to a mechanic for a completely unrelated problem the noise is now coming from both front tires and the driver rear tire... and now whenever I go slow with a window open its a SYMPHONY of different squeaks and squeals.

Makes me wonder if the people at the shop just all got up on the hood and started hoping up an down...... haha

you can search on here for the Bose cut out fix as it's a common problem when playing CD's. Mine was no exception.

Hmmm..

1.) Turning radius
2.) Rotors that warp after 4,000 miles. Even when I try to baby them.
3.) Speaker cut-out/Clarion sound systems in general.

That's all I can think of right now..

This... oh this is the only thing that makes me apoplectic about this car. Although, my being broad in the beam doesn't help matters any.

I never noticed the turning radius thing but I have always driven big North American clunkers before I found my 1997 Max SE (1980 Chev Caprice was my first and 1985 Chev Celebrity the last). He was spoiled beyond all rationality apparently because all of the other things I've read here I haven't had any problems with. I love my Max!

Except the paint, but I expected certain issues on a 12 year old car and budgeted for that... just have to find a good paint shop locally and work on the rest of the little things as I go.

Alright have you guys ever replaced injectors? Well a couple months ago I replaced all of my injectors. I had to take off the manifold the intake... throttle body the TPS all of them sensors... I was getting annoyed but I love my maxima. Finished in like 4 hours which should've takin 1 hr on a regular honda know what I'm saying?!

Ok I hate my valve knock when its cold out its soo annoyingg..! I can't fix it cause I'm jobless right now and I'm going to school. Guh. Now I got an exhaust leak before the cat. Gezzh.

About the turning radius... I don't have any problem with it. The ford ranger is just rwd and its turning radius is naturally wider actually on any rwd cars.

another 3rd gen one-

the usual wheel well and rear passenger door rust. i took off all my rust but it wasnt fun. what was worse is the rust was under the mudflaps and after 18 years of being on most of the screws wouldnt budge and just stripped so i had to remove the wheel on one and drill out the screws, the others i yanked hard and they flew out from rust

I know it's been going on for maybe 6+ years, the flashing air bag lamp due to side air bags on a 4th gen. But this time around I almost couldn't reset it. It came back the same week as the state inspection, and took me over an hour to get it off. The older the car gets, the more I like it, since I am the original owner. And this is coming from a guy who's had a 335 coupe for almost 3 years now. Somehow I don't think it will be as easy for the BMW to make it 12 years with so little maintenance like the Maxima. Too bad they don't make 'em like the 4th gen anymore....

another one i get still is the "loose chain" noise, whenever i drive you can hear a noise that isnt terribly noticeable but it sounds like a loose bike chain. alot of people seem to get it on maximas and not 3rd gen only
