Got pumped up to finally have something to work on, and as soon as I grabbed my tool kit and bag-o-goodies and stepped outside to have the God of rain dump a bucket of water on my head, I went back inside and sat on the couch to watch Gearz and wish I had a giant garage to work in

Maxima in the shop

Took my '93 SE 5speed into the shop to have them replace the half-shafts(not somethin' I was ready to mess with), ended up having the wrong shaft. My Maxima HAS traction control, did not know this. Oh well, come Monday all should be fine.

195K, but still runnin' like a rapped ape!

Replaced a leaking coupler at rear of engine on the 96..runs in one side and out the other.. thinks its the heater hose..tighten with clamps..got the part from autozone..may go to Crown Nissan Monday to see if they have original part..Believe it needs an alternator also..I may yank it off today or just take it to my cuz's shop and let him do it..(311,000 miles)..The 04 needs a wash job..

My God, I just replaced the damn knock sensor, it was cracked completely in half (Cool!) But I spend 2 hours trying to get the freaking bolt off I tried everything, big wrench, small ratchet, yelling and screaming while trying to turn the bolt, and nothing worked. And while yelling and screaming my hand slipped off and ratchet and conveniently hit a little razor blade thingy coming out of the block and got a intense cut that wouldn't stop bleeding.

All in all, I would rather get kicked in the nuts then do another KS change
And also I have small hands and so I though that I had it all in the bag, but I guess even small handed people have it tough even when there is freaking wires and harnesses EVERYWHERE!

I did 2 KS changes today, getting it off wasnt too bad. 18" 3/8 extension and swivel made it pretty easy, getting it back on was the tough part. Didnt have my magnet like I did the first time but a girl was there with small hands, she seated it in 1 min and 28 seconds. Tightened it down and good to go.

that metal thing sticking out is the headgasket, it almost knicked me too... no blood this time thought

Show off

But yeah, getting it off was the worse for me haha, I didn't have any extensions and so I had to resort to desperate measures.

But if I had a picture of Jessica Alba naked I would have gotten it off with my hands alone

But yeah it was not the most fun thing I have ever done on my car, putting it back on the quite easy because I managed to get my hand into the cave while holding the KS and bolt then I turned it by hand and struggled again to tighten it with a tiny wrench. haha

It stopped raining long enough for new NGK iridiums.

Leo, next time wrap in your wrist and hand in duct tape. People won't think you tried to off yourself

Haha thankyou

I didn't notice that I had a ton of tiny little scratches until I took I was done and washed off all the grease on my hands.

But next time I am going to wrap my whole hands in 5 layers of duct tape because when I was screaming BOOM SHAKALAKA while pushing on a tiny ratchet with two fingers, the bolt all of a sudden loosened and my hand slammed into that part that cut my finger, and it when through the collar of my sleeves but didn't cut my wrist... hmm... now that I think about it, I wonder if anyone has ever died changing a KS?

I wasn't that far off! In trying to get my hand over that bracket and down under the UIM with the wratchet, I thought I was done for. If I pushed any harder and they would have found me under the hood, bled out with my hand still stuck in there. That's when I got the idea for the duct tape and was able to finish the job no prob. The tape was like body armour. It saved me a trip to the hospital for sure. Actually using a long handled flex wratchet is the way to go to loosen the bolt.

That would be quite a sight, but from now on I am using your advice and getting my duct tape gauntlet on before I stick my arm into a dark crevice in a car.

But the most annoying thing in my opinion is all those little brackets and doo-dads that they have to keep the various hoses and wires organized, I mean I can't imagine how tough it would be to stick your hand in to hand turn the bolt if you have big hands. But I guess that is where your wife or kid comes in haha

Realized that probably 19 out of 20 people I see driving maximas around where I live are OLD! That includes all generations of maximas. But man, I love mine I just wish I could see some of you orgers where I live.(Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada) maybe with some mods or something! Most of the people I see driving maximas probably don't even know what kind of car they drive! They very obviously don't care about their cars, and don't keep them in great condition.

My goodness man...invest in some extensions & a u-joint! I got mine off in about 2 minutes (after a 10-minute PB application) and got it back on in about double that time. I used what you see below for the initial loosening/final tightening & stuffing my hand in for the final loosening/initial tightening. Got a few cuts but nothing major!

Got my amp and subwoofer wired up. Wasn't too hard. Hardest part was getting through the firewall. Went through the hole where the hood release cable runs. Ran the wire under the trim along the doors.
Thumps hard....love it
