i believe 2002+ models have the same engine 3.5L and i also believe that if you own a 2002 you dont want to upgrade it to 2004+ because of ugly body style. the feeling of ride is not big diffrence between 02 to 07. 07 has less HP than 05 0r 04. if you ever get a chance to upgrade just go with 02 models.

EDIT: I prefer 07 camry 3.5L!

Thank you for your positive post. I rarely come across any one owning other gens, with anything POSITIVE to say about these cars. I really think it is a missunderstood car. It is incredibly fast and underestimated. (Although I too, am a fan of the '03' with the 3.5 in it also)!

Thanks again for your kind words, spoken from experience!

So your step mom has had two 95SE's?

Before I bought my 02 I drove an 04. Personally I like everything about the 5.5 gens but the 6th gen is no joke. I focus on power/hp/ whatever you want to call and place a premium on comfort/luxury. I'm not an engine guru but I couldn't feel a significant difference in the engine performance of the 02 and 04. I felt the shifting (6spd) was "notchy" on the 04.

Inside I was more comfortable in the 5.5. But honestly while I'm very happy with my 02, I could've been just as happy with the 04. when I measured price/insurance/mileage/performance/comfort the 02 excelled.

I hope going forward they return to a more streamlined/sleak design for the max instead of this weakazz big/boxy toyota camry body style.

the 2nd gen wagon she traded for her 95 se auto, that got rear ended like a **** (some dodge ram kid + 40mph + a complete stopped maxima = screwed rear end, [for future references])

and this other 95se auto was traded in for the 05 max

it was a SWEET SMOOTH accel comfy (especially those back seats) and new lol (i dont usually drive new cars)

Well i get to take out new nissans at work all the time. The 6th gen maxima's are quick even the autos. stock for stock the 6th gen feels quicker then my 5.5 gen. Looks id give it to the 5.5 gen. I perfer the style of the 4th gen and 5.5 gen over the 6/6.5 gen. Both cars are nice, the interior of the 6th gen is much more modern then the 5.5, the one thing i like the best about the 6th gen over the 4th/5th gen is the independent rear suspension.

Also if you think the 6th gen is quick, go test drive an 07 altima 3.5 se 6spd. Those things haul ***. Just got one in at work and damn i must say i am very impressed, the interior is very nice, navigation system looks good. Exterior is alright, Im not a big fan of the tail lights, and no HID's. But the one we had, 3.5 se 6spd, leather, navi, sunroof, everything, for 39K sticker. I think theres only 2-3k markup on altimas depending on the model, im not a salesman so i dont know for sure. Those figures are in CAD funds.
