Window tinting: Front windshield?

I found a window tinting place that does really good work, but they wont tint the front windshield because of liability. . Is it worth getting it done if the windshield can't be?

I never did that due to lowered visibility at night, even with my HIDs I don't want to risk it

i did ti, then had to remove it. i had trouble seeing at night, but them again i have trouble seeing in the day also. it was so cool though, people driving past at stop lights, etc, would be staring because the absolutely could see inside.

I can see a very light tint....however I think night visibility would be compromised. I have only had a small strip at the top on any of my cars....

15% all around...50% on the windshield with 5% black strip...i wish i would have gone darker on it but thats as dark as my guy would go. Still looks a lot better than no tint on windshield. I say go 15% all around and 35% or 40% on the windshield...llumar film of course...

I would hate to get into an accident where you hit someone and they discovered you had a tinted front windshield..

That would be, how do you say...not fun.

The thing is that liability doesn't care how dark, or how illegal it is, just that it's wrong.

Tint could actually prevent you from flying through the windshield in an accident.

True, tint "reinforces" windows in a sense....but that would be If you wernt wearing your seat belt in the first place...therefore, you'd still be fucked up if your head hits the windshield.

I kno someone whose windshield was smacked by a rock kicked up by a semi. Good thing his windshield was tinted, cuz it stopped the rock from going all the way through, which would likely have struck the driver. Lemme get the picture

What? If you don't have a seatbelt on and you're headed through the windshield anyway I'd highly doubt a sheet of film is going to stop you.

And isn't the windshield already supposed to be shatterproof? Not in the sense that it won't crack, but in that your side windows will shatter, where as the windshield (at least that I've seen) seems to stay in one piece, albeit very spiderwebbed and whatnot.

Yep, but more realistically it would prevent a said rock from penetrating the glass.

Ive seen tinted windshields, and I want to do it for the fact of bright sunlight. But I just worry about my night vision.

I love the way it looks, but would never consider it. It lowers your visibility too much at night, and all you guys that say it doesn't, well....... lol

Tinting your winshield is very illegal......If you look at your windshield to the right or left of it you will see a small orange line....This indicates some law that you CAN NOT have tint below that line.....
