My girl wants to get a new Altima. Any one have any input on these cars? How are they? Or is there a better car to get in teh same price range?

I told her to get the 2.5SL. She doesn't need a lot of power.

It's not really the just the altima's engine. I've driven a bunch of 4 cylinder manual transmission cars, and for some reason they all sound like go-karts when they are going in reverse. It's downright laughable really.

I have a maxima. But i don't think a 19 year old girl really needs to get a maxima. It's a little too expensive for her.

If thats the case then get her a hundai.....

I'm being serious too. Both my girlfriend 19 yrs old (drives elantra), and sister 18yrs old(drives sonata) barely bought one. They are very good cars in my opinion. Good power (for a 4cyl, and v6). They are great on gas mileage, and plus I think they dont look all that bad. ....I suggest you test drive some and compare to what you are looking for....take in mind that i do drive a maxima(A freaking HUNDAI has my approval).
my .02 cents

I took a good long look and a test drive of an '04 Hyundai Tiburon 6-speed. It was a fully loaded top of the line model that I think they wanted somewhere just a little north of $20k for. It's a great looker, and it's decently fast, but the fit, finish, suspension, materials, sound-deadening, visibility, and just about everything else is so sub-par I don't know how anyone buys those things. This was supposed to be Hyundai's top of the line. I'm very happy with my $18k used Maxima instead, even if it's got a few miles on it, and I'm sure you'd be happy with an Altima (I test drove an 03 model a while back, great car but it had a very bad interior - but I hear that's been fixed for 05)

i think the hyundai's top of the line is the xg350, the tiburon i guess is their sports car. i drove a hyundai elantra for my rental for a couple weeks it wasn't that bad but it wasnt good either, it was just meh..

if you need a cheap car why not a civic? and why not used?

Maxima has always been a better quality car.

Period

Dont you love yours? Get her a 4-5 gen with low low miles with all the options and Im sure she will love it.
