Hayden Oil Cooler Questions
#1
- Hey guys, Cheston just told me to get the Hayden Transmission Oil Cooler ($50) as opposed to Stillen's Oil Cooler ($335 through Avalon Racing).
- I'm curious as to the effectiveness, the installation, and any other problems. Can you all give me the rundown? I'd like to know:
1. Price and where to purchase. (Cheston says that Pep Boys will have it)
2. Where does it mount?
3. How does it connect to the Oil Line?
4. How durable is it?
5. Any other problems or comments.
- Thanks

you can mount it anywhere you like. usually you use a sandwich type adapter which will or will not relocate your stock filter. Durability should be fine as long as you dont drop it on the floor alot...

mine was $30 at autozone, install was 30 min just splicing the cooler on to existing lines and mounting it on radiator or wherever u think it gets good air flow. i just lost a little bit of fluid but other then that its prob free.

- My friend up at school says that the cooler needs a connector piece that mounts to where the stock oil filter is. From there, the oil flows to the cooler, then back out to where the new filter is (which will be conveniently relocated), then back through the regular system.
- Basically, the stock filter location becomes a continuation of the oil line and the oil filter location is relocated to an easier-to-reach spot before the lines are rejoined. The hard part is finding the right size connector to fit onto where the stock filter is located. Ian says that there are about 12 standard sizes, so it shouldn't be too difficult to obtain the right one.
- He popped a kit onto his Miata and it works fine. With the money I'm saving on this, I can get my intake too. Yeah!
- Thanks for the help. Any other comments would be appreciated. ;-)
