2003 Final Nissan Sales figures
#2
Hmm, most Nissan vehicles were down in sales. They are being carried by Murano and 350z availability. The Maxima is down 12%, but may be due to the release of a new model. Infiniti is looking strong.

Now are these figures for 2003 models sold or models sold in 2003. If it's for the latter, then the decline in Maxima sales may be due to the 2004 model. Because for the second half of the year the 2004 models were available. Just something to think about.

As for your comment about bringing back the 240, I TOTALLY AGREE!!! Better yet, bring back the S15 (SR20DET)--call it the S16 and give it a turbo 4 cylinder based on the Spec V's QR25DE(T?). If that happens I'll pre-purchase it and dedicate my life to drifting.

Uhhh....am I the only one to be surprised by what's in this link from max002?
The new Pathfinder is going to be powered by a VQ40!!
"The Pathfinder and Frontier also share a 4.0-liter V6 that’s capable of more than 250 horsepower and more than 270 lb-ft of torque. It’s a version of the 3.5-liter V6 used in the Nissan Murano, Quest and 350Z."
I don't know if this is no big news or old news for you guys, but I find it very interesting.

hehe... yeah, we were making a big fuss about it in the b15 sentra forums.
Makes you think... will the sentra some day have some kind of smaller VQ since just about every Nissan car has it? And will the maxima come in a 4.0SL or SE version some day soon?
I personally don't trust the QR25... not as much development as the SR20 in the se 2.0 sentras. It's supposed to have VQ technology, but I don't buy that they did a really good job with it. A VQ25 would be interesting... or a SR22/SR25.

But back to the thread, like I've surmised before, there is no reason to have a next gen of Maxima. It's dead, going the way of the dodo. Hit its peak in 1994 when it made the 10 Best list. Like the 350Z, only stayed on for 1 year. As others have pointed out on this forum, there are simply too many Honda Motor and BMW products to even have 1 slot for a Nissan, G35 being the exception.

With the VQ ranging in engine sizes from 2.0L all the way up to 4.0L now, along with its compact size that lets it work in smaller vehicles too, I'd have to say that the Nissan VQ is one of the most versatile engines on the planet. It's like the import equivalent of Chevy's small block.
