Dad got hosed- rear brakes
My dad took my former car in to the mechanics cause the rear brakes were sticking when its cold. I had this problem back when I had the car. So what do they do? They put in new or remanuf. calipers, new rotors, new pads. The repair bill? $480! Holy crap! Nissan reliability.....

Two Thumbs Up for dealerships My stepmother did the same sort of thing. I think she paid $450 to do the front brakes on her 2000 Accord. I told her I could have done the same work for $100 and a plate of good spaghetti.

Yeah in the winter MOST repair shop will start the hosing...pretty bad I might add. I had some1 call in about a T-belt today, girl didnt know wth to do, then she told me some place is doing here head gasket 
due to the t-belt snapping?
There also one brake only shop were no matter what car/truck you've got..you ALWAYS need new rotors and calipers
What drives me absolutley nuts is lifetime brake pads, wtf is that. Customers drive me nuts when they mention lifetime crap for wear & teat parts 
Btw-winter is then the hosing starts due to the fact that winter is usually the "slower" season for auto repair shop (trust me, I know) and most placed (especially chains) need to meet quota so bust out the hose they will.

I've got lifetime warranty brake pads from Autozone on my Explorer. I paid about $22 for them back in 1995. Every year I take the pads back to Autozone and they give me new ones, free, no questions asked. I think it's great. The only downside is the copious amount of dust they make.

you cant go wrong w/autozone. I got a set of axles from them
Why do you guys let your parents take their cars in? then they get ripped off?
now if they are stubborn and underestimate you then let them go on ahead. I dont let my dad take his truck into the dealer if I can do what needs to be done. So far just about everything.

Im a car enthusiast, I do my work on my own car, but for the parents car... haha they put me in the maxima and it caused me great pains, and they decided to not sell it and keep it so they should be the ones to pay the price to repair the damn thing .. :-D

Ooops, I just reread what I wrote... i was in a hurry cause Im at work anyway.. what it says is: Its my parents' fault they decided to keep that POS car that gave me such a headache and cost me so much time and energy and money and frustration that since its breaking down its their own fault for keeping it, so they should pay for all the repairs at the ripped off dealers prices.

I actually have a lifetime warranty on my raybestos QS's from Meinekee (I probably spelled that wrong but you get the idea) Soon as they wear out, all I pay for is labor. They are somewhat expensive the first time around though, something like 60$.

Why do you guys skip out and buy the crap pads???? These are your brakes!!!! Also, why are you having someone else install them? It takes 30 minutes and a 12mm socket to replace the front pads and that's including jacking up the car and removing the wheels. There really is a difference between cheap pads and good performance pads. You get far better braking feel and shorter stopping distances good brake pads. Decent street performance pads aren't expensive either (~$40-60). The only downside is shorter pad life and more dusting depending on the brand you buy.

I thought it was 14 mm... you also might need a large C clamp.
