Is the Max growing on people?

I've just noticed a lot more Maximas on the roads today than I have in the past. It seems that a lot of people are being turned into "Max Believers." Since I got my first Max ('89SE) about 5 years ago, I've talked two different family members into getting Maxes. My parents followed with a '99GLE, and my Aunt then followed with a 2K1SE. Then, of course, I went out and got my 2KSE. I've also noticed other people around town that now drive Maxes. One that I noticed was the owner of a bank here in town that used to drive a Chrysler 300M, but now drives a 2004 Max. I guess people are starting to realize how good of a car the Max is. Have any of you all seen any type of "Maxima Trend" in your area?

maxima has to be one of the three most popular cars in NYC, first is probably the civic, then the accord and right after that comes the max

In a way its good that the maxima is so popular but in a way it is bad since we dont want the maxima to be played out. Like today I saw 6 maximas around my block ( 3 4th gen, 2 5th and, 1 6th ), and most of the owners dont know the potential of their cars, they just know it will get them from work and back.

I've always seen tons of Maximas. Especially when I go on trips or something. But here in town there are plenty to go around. For the longest time I would never see a modded Maxima now I've seen 5 in the past week. One not being heavily modded just a 2k2 with clears and heavy tints but still it had aftermarket parts. It's cool to see some Maximas around here with some mods, but there is a 4th Gen that's kind of Ricey IMO.

maximas are everywhere. but most i see are not modded. the most modded gen is the 4th, though. i see lots of slightly modded 4th gens. i never see modded 5th gens. and once in a while i will see a modded 2nd or 3rd gen, but only just occasionally. i have a modded 3rd gen, 5spd -my favorite. i am starting to have 6th gen sightings more often, as that car is gaining market saturation. i used to hate it. now it has sort of grown on me. that one would be bad as$ modded. i am starting to really like the 5th gen SE model.

i never see skylines, unless you count the G35, which is the newest gen of skyline. i have seen a couple of 240-to-Silvia conversions around here, too (Los Angeles). i have been to MotoRex, too. and all i saw was skyline. in one stop, you can see about twenty skylines immediately. and silvias. i know i got off topic, but i could not resist. i love nissans.

I noticed more maximas now too but I think it's because I own one now and I look out for it. Prior to that, I didn't really care or noticed them.

To answer your question, no for me its not. I have an 02 with serious transmission issues (getting close to #4 in the car). I want to trade the car cause I can't afford to keep replacing the trans and they replace the fifth gen with an overweight Altima. Guess the Max will be replaced by an Alti.

I keep seeing Saturn Ions and thinking they are 6th Gens from a distance.

Then I get closer and curse to myself.

Very true, the 6th gen looks like an Ion from the back and an older Sonata from the front with that stupid split grill, guess they wanted to match the one on the Sentra.

Just think when the new Galant comes out. You'll see it from a distance and go hey thats a new Max and when it drives by you'll go **** that was a Galant.

Many 4th gens around my parts too. It's about half and half, meaning half have lazy owners, and the other half have owners who rub a diaper on the fender on occassion

selective perception rocks. easy on the eyes :

I love old 3rd Gens, 4th Gens, and 5th Gens. I just cannot get used to the huuuuuuuuuuge 6th gen's though. My 4th Gen is the perfect size for me. The 5th Gen is a little bigger but still reasonably sized. The 6th Gen is just a boat though. I saw one parked at a grocery store today and it was just obnoxiously huge. The 18" wheels are way overboard too, IMO. The whole car is just way overboard.

There are a zillion 02-03's around in the DC area though. They're a dime a dozen. Nissan must have done something right for those models.

Their are not alot of 02/03 roaming the streets here sometimes I can go for miles and miles and not see an 02/03 and definately not any 04's, my dealer still has 6 of his original 8 he recieved in March.

5th GEN

I see many 5th Gen in my area (KC suburbs). Of those the majority are SEs. Maybe I just notice them since that is what I drive!

Sorry, but the 5th Gen is the best! I just can't get use to the '04's new styling .

Peace

Dallas streets are crawling with Maximas. And a million altimas too. But I never really took notice until I got my 2003 SE.

There are 5 maxima's on my block alone, 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation. It took maybe 6 months when the 02 Maxima came out until i saw alot of them around here in NYC. I have hardly seen any 04 Maxima's but they are resembling many cars lately that look like their getting fat. Too much excess weight will probably make them less fun to drive. Does anyone know why so many cars are getting heavier and heavier. On my insurance card it says my 99 SE weighs 2957 lbs. The 04 is a hell of alot heavier than that.

I've started to see a lot of slightly modded 4th gens in my town. However, some of them are pretty ricey. One pulled up next to me at a light and started to talk all kinds of smack. I was really surprised because most of the Maxima owners I run into are really nice and cool. I have this feeling that we'll start to see a lot of ricey Maximas in the near future.

Lots of Maxima's in Philly. There are 5 maxima's on my block. 2 5th gen, 3 2nd gen. I rarely see modded max's around.

OT: talking about ricey max, I saw a black SE 2k/2k1 max with a supercharger (well i saw bunch of gauges hanging on the driver side, so i guessed he has it), lowered, lots of stickers on the side and rear bumper, oh and a huge "02" on the side, maybe he thought he's driving a race car? And when I approached him I read this on the rear bumper, "Warning: Surgeon General Says It's Okay To Smoke Hondas" ... I was so cracked up ... Well that's cool. Until I saw a tall aluminum wing mounting behind the stock spoiler.... ..

i don't have enough fingers on my body to count how many max's are in my complex.. i don't like the 6th gen 'cause i don't have one. i bet it'll grow on anybody once they drive it and can call it theirs.
