Hey

Remember the Maxima has the Best V6 ever created, the M3 has a good Inline 6, I dont know the weight of the M3 but I know that little Thing is fast, remember its not a 1/4 mile race, it was on the highway, the Maxima shines at around the triple digits, but an inline 6 from a BMW also does. With your mods your High end power should be Super High, there is no way of telling if he was flooring it unless you heard his engine, if you guys have been to any races you will realize that even the smallest of a headstart could determine the outcome of everything. Personally I would take a Maxima over a M3, I could use the money I saved and have a 12 second Maxima with full luxory and everything the M3 Has and a lot of cash still left over,

Wow...OK...For the LAST time, it was NOT a race, nor in ANY of my posts did I claim I "beat" an M3!!!

I used to own a '98SE 5spd.I too had an encounter with an E36 M3 and the result's were very different.

Top speed he had me.We raced thru three stoplight's and i only had that M3 for the first two gear's

please don't assume stupid things like the max is the best v6 ever created. thats one of the stupidest things i've heard, its good for its price, but it is simply outclassed by the M3 in ANY respect. our 4th gens don't even have a variable intake or variable valve timing like the other gens, so how is the high end so good? our high end is damn week and if you actually took some time to look at a dyno graph, you would see that we start losing power far before redline.
don't compare 1/4 mile times with an M3, a maxima will never be what an M3 is so don't kid yourself. who would buy a bentley if it was all about speed? the M3's rwd, 50/50 weight distribution, handling (comfy and versatile), raw power upon demand, smooth transmission, and what most people like...status.

I'm not disputing what you're saying, but I have to ask, what was the best V6 ever created?

i haven't researched teh topic extensively...but some that come to mind are the E46, 3.2L nsx motor, 2.7L TT S4 motor...im not sure if the C32 AMG has a 6 or 8, but thats a damn good engine too.

there are more, but thats just what comes to mind right now.
even with the 3.5L V6, the max has low output compared to the 350Z and G35.

You fail to understand that it's not all about the engine. No matter how much money you pour into the Maxima it will never compare to M3. Yes, maybe you'll make your Maxima equally fast in a straight line speed, but it still lacks the near perfect weight distribution, RWD, independent suspension, etc.
Putting tons of performance mods and a V8 motor in a Neon doesn't make it a better car. Just an analogy.

I dont know if you can pinpoint the best V6 engine. There are a lot of good ones out there. The VQ is up near the top though. GM has some good V6 engines (3800) as well as Honda.

Best 6 cylinder engine is the 3.6l F6 in the new 996 Carrera.

I would disagree....That engine isn't anything special. The BMW S54 makes more power and is a more advanced engine. Porsche needs to up their power in their N/A engines because IMO they are weak compared to the competition.
