FAREWELL MAXIMA.ORG!! IT WAS A PLEASURE! *Crash pics*

Well, I'm going to keep this as short as possible and let the pics do the talking. I was basically going 60 on the highway approaching the offramp to my house. As I was breaking I lost controll of the car (black ice/60mph when i should've been going 45) and flipped onto my roof. I tumbled between a road sign and a lightpost. I slid about 100 feet where I flipped back over on 4 wheels. Luckily my 2 friends and myself only had minor scratches.

Be very very very careful driving especially in the winter. ALWAYS wear your seatbelt. If I didn't I would've been thrown out. And also please, no matter how many performance mods you may have done to your car, it is no excuse to drive fast or recklessly especially around corners. This false sense of security could cost you your lives.

I just want to thank everyone here on the .org for being so helpful, knowledgeable, funny and compassionate to everyone. I learned so much from you guys and want to thank you for it. Farewell for now maxima.org. You will be missed.

Please everyone, be careful on the roads. All the mods in the world will not protect you from road hazards.

Sorry to hear.... I usually check the weather before going out to see if it's below or near Freezing, I wish I had a temp gauge in my max.

wow
sorry to hear that man

that thing looks like it took a severe beating..
i noticed the air bags didn't even pop. guessing since there was no real impact..

i am definately getting winter tires next year. NY got some nasty snowfall this winter, my Goodyears didn't cut it..
the ice is rediculous on the streets now.. can't wait till this is all over

good luck in the future man

Hey, thanks for your words of support. I was definately something short of a miracle that everyone was completely fine. All I had was a slash on my wrist from the glass.

Aaron95SE: I will see. Even if I do move on to a new car, I will check up occasionally on what people have been doing and maybe come to answer/ask some Q's! As far as the mods, we'll see what the insurance says. Bad thing is that I don't have the stock exhaust so my y and catback will have to stay. I will salvage everything I can.

d_warner: Yea, I saw that. It was a bad 24 hrs for maximas

SoLid97SE: Yea, the rims are fine. They have new Bridgestone Blizzaks LM-22 on them. I will probably end up selling them.

Mad Dhan: Well I don't know what my next car will be. I'm going to save up for either a 2k2 max or alty with TRACTION CONTROL/LSD, or a Subie WRX.

UNCDooD: I'll have to wait till insurance sees it and see what I can salvage and sell off.

NYCe MaXiMa: Tell me about it. Trust me, snow tires don't help as much as you think. The one's I had were supposed to be up there. In a situation like this, no tire would help me. Just be careful driving cuz you never know.

I'll post up whatever I have that I will be selling including my ceramic ball bearing T3/T4 turbo and Deltagate (I paid a grand for them). I'll post a link on here when I know what else I am selling.

Get SNOW TIRES

The first "mod" for any vehicle driven where it snows, be it a Jeep Wrangler or a Nissam Maxima, is a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks. Pass on the supercharger and get the tires first. Mount them. Go to a big high school parking lot on a Sunday. Have fun sliding and spinning. Learn to appreciate the limits of the automobile. Never fear black ice again. You will be amazed at how these tires perform.

Good to read that there where no serious injuries! I'm knocking on wood as I type. The car's a goner, but she her job of protecting you and your buds. Please give her a decent goodbye. I'm sure it hurts.

In the pictures you provided, it appears that none of the air bags deployed! Is this true???

Are you coming back later with a new, better Max?

Thanks be to God that you and you're friends walked away from that because insurance can't save you. RIP to the Max but things like that can be replaced. I'm just glad that the three of you were wearing seatbelts. My friend was rear ended in MD on 270 in her I30 by someone doing 60 MPH, the only thing that saved her was her seatbelt.

Life is short, play hard but play it safe.

Thanks for the support guys! I haven't posted in so long because I was caught up with lawyers taking care of the "crime charges" and the insurance company. I am getting 9,500 for the car (which is pretty good if you look at Nissan's depreciation). We'll see what my next car will be. Maybe I can lease the WRX STi when it comes out this year.(you need 4wd in binghamton, ny) I will always stay loyal to Nissan tho! I am persuading my dad to get a 350Z or the Infiniti G35 2door and after I make my "big bucks" first thing I am getting is a US Spec Skyline...(hopefully)

To answer some Q's:

gotmaxwiltravel: My friend in the back wasn't wearing her seatbelt. She was incredibly lucky she din't fly out or smash her head against the glass.

Infinissan: Yea she looks sad. That's why I put that picture last.

Brockster: No the airbags didn't deploy. I guess the front and rear colision sensors weren't set off.

GoldenGlory: too late for the exhaust...sorry

95emeraldgxe: I'd definately be ****ed at my friend... >

melgaljour: No matter what tires you have, they can never protect you from road hazards. This type of "false confidence" can get you into trouble. That's basically why I took the turn at a reasonably faster speed over the limit, so you should still be careful.

Triocet: Thanks for the offer...another 5speed 4th gen would be nice..lol

Glad to hear you're okay. In my 91, my seatbelt saved my life when I went head on into a jersey barrier at about 65mph. Get another max man, you did a good job with this one.
