Why stop with just the work day.

It's obvious to me that most of us spend up to 75% of our waking hours on this site (ahem Vyrus, RedMaxPA007, SprintMax and a few others, uh myself included (hey, even the non-superPimp Maxes have to represent).

That being said, I've got to go check out the 4th Gen, Canada, Group Deals, Parts for Sale and Audio forums once I'm done with the General Discussion one...

Talk later, real busy.

Probably close to 10% for me. But still too much!

I wonder what people did before the internet. Too much work is what I'm guessing.

Autopia is a great site but they are a bit too fanatical for me. The amount of information on that site and the knowledge of some of the contributors is incredible. I can only visit that site in small doses lest I become one of the fanatics.

Anyone know of a good BMW forum/site besides dtmpower.net and bimmer.org (roadfly)? I'm considering getting an E46 but I haven't yet found a site that contains the wealth of information that maxima.org does.

As for work, thank god my monitor is turned away from the door in my office.

It used to be 80%
then dwindled down to 50%
by the time I hit my maximaniac status....
it dropped to 10%.
Now it's only about 2%.

Am I growing up?

Reality check: If people can spend 50-75% of their day on one website, add in other websites and we're probably talking 84-89%, with the remainder for lunch. How important to the organization is such an employee? Kinda a state worker mentality, no need to buy software to track their activity. Block certain sites and let them be imho. If there's any performance evaluation that's where the system takes care of itself.

Same here. I'm logged into Maxima.org at least 75% of the day. I'm probably actively browsing/posting 33% of the day. hahaha...
Everybody here knows exactly what I'm looking at when they walk by...but dammit I can't help it if I love my Max!

All kidding aside there's no nation like the USA. We can all trace our ancestors back to another part of the world, be it Europe, Asia, etc. No-show and no-work jobs are only on the Sopranos, and maybe civil service. Most people work pretty hard. Some people work really hard for no money too. I used to date a girl who made, now get this, $19,000 in Manhattan and she lived in Flushing. She b***** all day and night about her salary and rightfully so imho. I think she could have advanced but she was a man-hater or something!

Before I got my Maxima I spent some good amount of time on here learning different things. Once I got it well lets just say I spent way too much time on here. But I have learned a lot of stuff in the process.

I work at an online Advertising agency. Part of my job is to monitor the amount of Ads we send out during the day and analyze the patterns.

the interesting thing is that we server 2x more ads on a Wednesday afternoon as opposed to a weekend afternoon.

People are browsing the Internet FAR more at work than at home.

Also, people are on the Internet 200% more in the US than all of Europe combined. US is also many times more than Africa and the Middle East.

But get this: Most Internet traffic comes from China! About 10% more than the US.

I was sent to Stockholm in the summer of 19997 and met a chick there, and I noticed 2 things. They had handheld cell phones in rampant use when we did not--that was 5 years ago. Also, telecommunication resources were pretty much you pay for what you use, roughly 8-10 cents per minute for a local call. That means no free internet for them (untimed). I would think that would have changed with broadband but not sure.

There's no doubt that everyone up to the CEO uses the internet. I've walked into the CIO's office and he was dointg some shopping on the web. But still, to say one spends 50% or more of their time on it, they need to reevaluate if they want a job or not imho.

It depends on the job. My team at work is a Network Operations Center and is fully reactive to things breaking. If things aren't breaking, they're documenting procedures, if there's no procedures to document, then I have no reason to tell them not to browse the Internet, as long as they also keep an eye on all the monitors.

Hell, I let them play Asheron's Call on the weekends. It keeps their minds active.
