Videos of the Max on the NHIS Roadcousre

Okay guys, here are some videos taken from the inside of the car. There pretty interesting and give a good idea of how the Max handles a roadcourse at speed. There are many mistakes made by me in the videos and I'm not interested in having everyone point them out to me, but CONSTRUCTIVE comments are always welcome.

The first one shows what can happen when your turn in is overly aggressive and "ham handed". slide

The next one shows how capable the "beast" is doing some fast laps:
NHIS1

The last two show the unbelievable power of the M5 and E46 M3. Basically, I get passed a lot. NHIS3 and NHIS4

The slide is 600K and the others are all around 3MB each.

Cool. Too bad I'm on dialup right now on an old computer. I tried DLing them but it said it could not find a suitable decompressor :/ guess I'll have to wait until later.

Will be nice to see some Max vids at the track.

I would have crapped my pants if that slide happened to me, didnt look to controlled.. Good recover though..

edit: I have to say NHIS1 was very exciting, watching you whip the corners all in the powerband. The others were kind of depressing, you didnt really hold it in the powerband most of the time, I thought you were in 5th for a minute

How did you mount that camera??? I would like to take some videos next time i head to the track.

BTW.....the performance friction pads held up pretty well. I think i need to get my rotors turned though because my brakes are making a whirring noise and dont seem to grip as well. I am going to take a look at them soon and see what the problem is.

Looks very nice- that slide was freakin' scary because you were so close to the wall. Way to represent the maxima community

Re: Videos of the Max on the NHIS Roadcousre

man..just watching your videos make me wanna go race again..(i gotta put on my 18s back again, of course! )

nice job! it got a little out of control in the 1st video, but that's half the fun! finding out what your car can do and can't do at the track can be a very valuable knowledge for everyday driving too!

keep it up and hopefully you'll beat those 'M' cars some day!

The slide was interesting. I actually spun there early in the day. When it started to go again all I could think was "not again".

NHIS1 was actually later in the day and was when I had my rythym done again so I was cooking. The last 2 clips were taken actually taken earlier and I hadn't been out on the course since May, so I was kinda slow at first.

I just put a very large bolt up through the trunk and rear parcel shelf and torqued in down with some nuts. The sheetmetal was already drilled there, so I just pushed through the carpet and I was done.

There's probably a lot of pad transfer left on your rotors. You should be able to just sand it off and be good to go.

What kind of grit sandpaper would you recommend? I will try it later on and see if works. Thanks!

Like 150-200. You don't need anything nasty, the stuff comes off pretty easy.

What do you need to play the movies?

What tires are you using? You mention all your mods on the car but you fail to mention which tires you're running on.
Also, which camera are you using?
Thanks.

215/55/16 Dunlop W-10's on the stock 97 SE rims. I've also tried 225/50/16 with these rims, but they roll over too easy on the track.

I have no idea what the camera was. I borrowed it from my sister. The next time I talk with her I'll ask her.

Yeah, but the W-10's were $60 each so I figured I'd burn through those first.

Sorry about the Quicktime thing, but I had to borrow all the equipment and that was my only easy option.
