New toy!

So I got a new toy for my bday!

I heard that when brand new, I should let the compressor run for about 20 mins or so and then later open the purge valve and let anything in the tank purge out. Is that true? Can anybody assist me with this? Thanks!

Oh and it's a 33gal tank

RTFM fool!

No, seriously u want to read it tho haha…But open the valve and let it run for about 10-15 minutes with it open, then close it and pressurize it…everytime you drain the tank your going to want to let it run with the valve open for about 10-15 minutes…u don’t HAVE to do this, but that’s what your supposed to do…I do it like once every 4 months, but it really just depends on how much u use it…the manuals instructions are overkill IMHO

I've been recently thinking about the exact same size...not huge but better than the 1.5gallon (go ahead, laugh) that I've used for everything from taking the wheels off (when not in a hurry) to removing parts of the subframe of my car.

Gets pretty noisy w/a small compressor when it never gets to shut off

BTW, any tools to go w/that thing?

It was a birthday present, so I'm not complaining at all.

nice compressor i have had the same one few years now. it has served me well i will drain the tank once and a while depending on how much i use it. if i do a big job and use it a lot i will drain it at the end of the job. most of the time i just use it for small projects so i drain it about once a month but i do also live in humid florida so water collects pretty quick here.

BTW i have yet to see mine hit 150 psi it shuts off at about 120 ish.

Either that or you are really, REALLY tall

Very nice; I have the same one. Works great; just remember that the impact gun they give you with the kit sucks...get the big *** one that kicks out 750ft lbs of trq.

You should drain it after every job no matter where you live. Plus it's a craftsman, the quality ain't that great so even more of a reason to do so...

I would suggest that you buy a water separator and a oil distributor. Compressed air generate water so if you are using the compressor to paint or sand blast, there will be water in your line which is not a good thing. The oil distributor will take care of your air tools making them last longer and will prevent you from oiling them manually before each use.
