Angle Wrench - For Angular Tightening Method

What is the FSM talking about in the Mechanical section, this angle wrench? I've never seen one of these for sale before. Used I think for the cylinder head bolts.

It says "some bolts need to use the angular tightening method as opposed to torque wrench method".

The only 2 bolts nissan "requires" angular tightening are cylinder head bolts, and connection rod cap nuts.

Greeny I picked up the old fashioned kind...the exact one in the Tech Bulletin PDF you posted (Snap On one on right)

What's the point of the arm thing. How do I use it? Didn't come with a manual.

TORQUE ANGLE METER

* Measures angle of rotation after pre-torque load in "torque-angle" applications
* Includes 1/2" male and female square drives for both sockets and wrenches
* Measures in 5-degree increments on large easy-to-read dial

Those bolts are done in two stages; a pre load and a final torque value which is done by turning the bold a specific degree. Some head bolts are done in this manner so it is not an old or weird way of doing it. I also beleive the bolts are to be oiled prior in installing, check the manual.

1- pre load the bolt as specd in the manual.
2- put your wrench on the bolt.
3- use a protractor and mark 32' on the case from the wrench.
4- turn your wrench to the mark.
5- done!

One word of warning, when angle tightining do it in one fluid motion. You only get one shot with these bolts, it's not really that big of a deal to do it right.

Thanks guys - and the pics are great. I get it now - you just stick the arm thing against something, and the dial rotates. At first I thought you had to hold it while using the wrench with the other hand - then I figured this would be impossible to do it in one motion.
