Exhaust Manifold Studs

So I stripped one the the bolts on my headers and decided to just replace the whole stud since its rusted. What tool do I use to remove the stud?

1. Penetrant
2. Double Nut Method (probably wont work)
3. MIG welder attach new nut onto end (If this doesn't work)
4. Lastly - Drill out with reverse drill - Use Eazy Out to remove last remains

There are guides found through this website - do a search.

The old-school way - heat the stud with a torch, cool it with compressed air or water while oiling it, then turn it out. Repeat as necessary.

I've been able to successfully remove VQ studs using an external torx socket.

OP: Use penetrant and be patient. Turn the ratchet SLOWLY. Also make sure to keep the ratchet handle perpendicular to the stud or else you risk breaking the head off.
