I've got a somewhat random collection of sockets with numerous instances of certain sockets and small numbers of others. I need a organizer system that I can customize to fit my collection. Instead of making something custom I want to see whats out there first. I have my eye on this because its just a set of boards and pegs that you assemble to your liking, but I'm a bit weary of the quality. Does anyone know of any other similar kits out there?
I had that for my old socket set quite a few years ago and I hated it so much I ended up throwing them in an old shoebox instead. The trays worked fine as long as you keep your sockets in the drawer of your toolbox and never need to remove the trays. Say for example you were working on something in your back yard and you knew you were going to need a few different sized sockets but weren't sure of the sizes you would have to go back and forth because if you try to carry the try with you the sockets fall all over the place.
Now I have something like this but I know that won't really help you much.

Yeah, not really looking to buy new sockets right now.
Yeah, those hansen trays. That was my first choice, but I have 4 or 5 sockets of the same size (in different drive sizes, lengths and points). I found that I'd need 6 metric alone to fit all the sockets I've got.
I think I'm just going to stick with the peg board style so I dont have to buy more things than I need.

I have the same problem. I just have one of each (one short, one tall each of 1/2", 3/8", and 1/4" drive) in the trays, and all my "spares" (about 8 14mm, 17mm, 1/2", etc lol) are just in a seperate drawer, just thrown in there in case I need them or lose one of my "primary" ones.
I mean, not like I ever need to use 3 17mm sockets at the same time, so why do I need all the spare ones organized in trays...

Hmmm, didn't think of that idea. I'm going to go look at the peg board style sockets holders at Sears and if they are crappy I'll go with the hansen organizers.
