Garage Sound-Systems....

Since we spend so much time in the garage, I'm sure we all have some kind of sound system there. So post yours up!

My former sound-system consisted of an old Pioneer car stereo (tape deck) wired to house power and wired to a couple old 6x9 speakers...with RCA wires to an iPod.

but it was time for a slight upgrade.

So today I went out and for $69 bought a Best-Buy "house-brand" stereo received (2x150w) and rigged up a mounting "shelf" for it. For speakers I used 4 speakers from old boom-boxes, two on each side of the garage. Also rigged up a holder and wiring for my iPod, using an old windshield-mount car holder

It sounds decent...nothing special, but good enough for the garage and a grand total of $69 spent - besides the receiver itself, everything else was parts I had sitting around.

A few pics. Also in the pics you can see the new small shelf I put all the way across the workbench (the unpainted 2x4, which will be painted black). I wanted a small shelf to hold various things, including my chargers for various cordless tools and boxes of nitrile gloves, etc....

you can see the boomboxes I used in this pic:

No pics, but I have an old Magnavox with 4 speaker output, record player, and 5 disc CD changer. I have some modified speakers, replacing standard 4" speaker with some great MTX speakers for my "office" area. Have four 6.5" shelf speakers that were quality when new, still great, which I use for my garage area. Also have hooked up a 15" Cerwin-Vega (older speaker, when they were good).

Garage is detached, wife complains often. I just growl and tell her to leave me and my man-cave alone! I'm finishing up my plumbing....she is begging me to install a shower. Do you think she's trying to tell me something?

I have a Sony CD boom box. Last summer the CD died so I may have to upgrade.

does the other vehicle's stereo count as a garage sound system if used when working on something?
seriously, a couple of durabrand boom boxes tuned to KATT.
