We all listen to music, the radio, or our spouses while working on our car. I would rather listen to music than the other two. (In the case of spouses, we hear them, not listen to them. )
I was just wondering who has a work site boombox. If they like it, or don't, and which one they would recommend.
It's not that I need a work site boombox or radio that was designed to drop off a roof top without breaking, while replacing a roof vent, but it completes a garage look . Might as well complete the look when you have Craftsman and Snap On tool cabinets and the works.
The ones I found were DeWalt (I own and like their drills and battery operated equipment), Milwaukee, Makita...(Notice all these companies offer home remodeling tools, not automotive).
One main feature that would make it or break it, is if there was a jack for my MP3 player. Worst case scenario I will have to use my FM transmitter.

I have just an old beater boom box from a long time ago. Works fine, I listen to the radio. My hands are usually too dirty to fiddle w/ an ipod or other mp3 player

I have an ipod base station with a remote, so I just stick the ipod in it. Also have a couple of old boomboxes in there if I want to listen to radio...

Just tried the Pandora radio. Now I have to buy a set of speakers for my laptop and leave them in the garage.

At the Subaru shop i work at its just the radio turned on and playing but not too loud nor too quiet. just on and playing whatever the Senior techs put on.
I never understood those "Worksite" boomboxes that look all rugged. You're paying extra money just because it's styled like a hand drill, that's about it. Besides, it's sitting on a shelf its entire life.
Anyway, I hate the radio. I listen to it from time to time and I hear more commercials than music. Turning on the radio is like turning on MTV. Otherwise, I do need something to listen to while I'm turning bolts and soldering. Since I primarily use a laptop or MP3 player as my primary source of music, I went to wal-mart and got an amplified set of computer speakers (2.1). Was like $20 and hooked right up to my Creative Zen. But then I ended up using it on my computer, so I brought in a panasonic shelf system. I gotta say, it's pretty damn good, 250W of "Superwoofer" power. It's enough to ring clear as a bell when I'm working way outside the garage.

yeah, id agree with a half decent bookshelf system over a boombox, but keep the volume low. most now days have mp3-cd playback, so you don't have to mess with changing CDs. and they come with a remote. just throw that in a ziploc bag, and your're good to go.
