Mobil1 deal

All those Mobil 1 users. AutoZone has a sale going until July 1. 5Qts Mobil 1 Snthetic or High Mileage Motor Oil & a Mobil 1 oil filter for $29.99. Or, 5Qts Mobil 1 Extended Performance Motor Oil & Mobil 1 Oil Filter for $35.99. Combine that with this promotion:
http://www.mobiloil.com/usa-english/...romotions.aspx

If that link doesn't work try this:

http://fatwallet.cachefly.net/attach...eformblank.pdf

Not a bad deal.

Mobil1 is loosing it.!!! PP is butt-kicking and even ST syn is eating into their mkt share. One has to price appropirately when there are superior syn at a lower price. They came up with this EP nonsense pricing it ridicously at $30/5Q, they need a new mkting head.

what are you talking about?

you get a $13 filter in the deal. That's 5 quarts for $17.

besides PP being a good quality synthetic and working perfectly fine for most applications does not necessarily meet or surpass Mobil 1 in more severe or long term conditions.

Also the EP is a different formula than the regular M1 for only a few cents more.

The rebate is until end of August and the prices come back to where they were, $22/5Q for regular Mobil1 and $29/5Q for Mobil1 EP. Hence M1 EP is $1.5/Q more than M1. IMO these rebates are intended to get back customers who are looking at lower priced syn oils and PP and ST have nothing to loose when M1 is priced above them.

In the same note, PP is $20/5Q and ST $17/5Q. ST syn is a good oil in my opinion for the 7.5K mile OCI. I am presently running ST syn and an UOA will be taken towards the end of 7.5K miles.

I have total confidence in ST syn taking it to 7.5K since my last UOA on regular ST oil at 5K was super, made me a believer in lower priced oils.

M1 10w-30 @ Walmart 5q jug, is "on sale" for $22.
i picked-up some HIGH MILEAGE, not the EXTENDED Mileage....

Hmmm -- methinks I'm off to Advance to get that jug + the Filter for $30....that's a good deal!....
The way I'm burning oil this summer, I'm going to need an extra 5quarts!!

M1 filters aren't sold @ Wally-world, and typically now co$t anywhere from $10-15 at the autoparts stores.

I took advantage of the deal at Advance and bought the M1 EP. This will be my first time using synthetic on my car. I got just 30k now on my car. It is ok to switch, right?

Good a time as any!

As long as you're not in the break-in period, and usally after 10k miles, just to be on the safe side of a good break-in of the internal parts!

Make sure you use that EP filter with the EP oil.

thats when i switched. wanted to at 20k but had a good deal on GTX.

Now I hope you will not waste the EP by dumping it at 3000 miles Only due to warranty I have been changing at 7500 using the oem filter. After warranty I will still change the filter at 7500 but the oil at 15000. Once my hoard of oem filters is used, then I will start using Mobil1 filters (unless something else comes around cheaper and as good). Though I will likely switch to Shaeffers 9000 if priced the same or better than Mobil1 when I go 15k mile changes.
