"New Formula" Mobil 1 ATF is now being sold. The label now says it covers Nissan Matic D and MANY others. Wow, how can it cover all those applications listed on the label? Impressive stuff or NOT?
Although Amsoil ATF claims to cover all these same applications too.......
I just put the "new formula" in the Max, so we will see.

And thanks to the OP - I'm due for my 500-mile oil change for my tranny - 'preciate the heads-up on the new Mobil1 ATF.. Drag racing eats up the fluids, you know...
Any ATF that meets a million stds is a jack of all specs but hardly meeting any spec completely. Too good to be true.
LoveMax, exactly what I was thinking, that's why I made this thread. I WAS going to buy the Nissan Matic D, but have read that Mobil 1 would cover it fine.

IMO, Nissan JATCO auto trannies are built and engineered far superior than others (folks talk high about Toyota's AsinWarner trannies but then my 2006 highlander is no match to my 9yr max when it comes to gear changes).
JATCO trannies will take any fluid thrown at it but also they are supposed to be brutal on fluids. You can choose to go syn but then the tranny will chew it up in 20K miles. That is why I stay away from syn and stick with MV ATFs with 15K change intervals via flushes.
Nissan Matic D is a weak ATF, much closer to DexronIII but with exact FM levels (FM, friction modifies levels which convinently is kept secret by Nissan).
