You will most likely be putting in the exact amount that you took out. In my case, however, some moron had overfilled it and I didn't know it and when I drained and put back what I took out, it was too high on the dipstick.
So, what I would do if I were you is measure what came out and if it was lets say 4.5 qts then maybe put in 3.5 or so and then the final amt just do a little at a time until it measures in the cool section on the stick (you then know it's atleast on the stick). Then start the car and run according to user's manual and gradually add the fluid and keep monitoring the level until it measures appropriately on the dipstick. IF you had checked the level before changing it, then you would be fine just to put back the same amt you took out. In my case, I "assumed" is was right because a trans shop had done it the time before and I was wrong because it was overfilled.
