I just checked my K&N panel filter, bought three years ago (yesterday).

It is still relatively clean, is not dried out and I can see through it when held up to the light.

The filter has 16k miles on it and is good to go. I will check it again in the fall.

I could only get about 22.5k out of an OEM paper filter. I may clean the K&N at about that mileage, or perhaps a little later depending on how it looks.

I have a near-new OEM filter that I can use for a day or two while it is drying out after cleaning and re-oiling.
